Media Moves at PBS NewsHour & CNN, Idaho Statesman Names Editor

Jessica Estepa has joined CNN as a campaign editor. She comes from USA Today where she served as politics editor and oversaw breaking and trending news coverage for the digital presence of the Washington bureau. Before that she was a senior digital producer for National Geographic, where she managed digital distribution efforts for the magazine. 

The Associated Press has appointed Peter Prengaman as west news director. He is based in Phoenix, Arizona and oversees a team of text, photo and video journalists responsible for general news, politics and enterprise in 13 western states. He was previously the news director at AP's Brazil bureau and has been with the newswires since 2003.  

PBS NewsHour continues to expand its team and has named a foreign affairs producer, a senior coordinator, and an arts editor:

  • Ali Rogin will join the nightly news broadcast as foreign affairs producer on March 11. She comes from ABC News, where she covered Capitol Hill, and before that covered the 2012 presidential election for NBC News. 
  • Julia Griffin has been promoted to senior coordinator of digital video.  She most recently served as a producer for the program, and joined PBS in 2010 as multimedia editor. 
  • Joshua Barajas has been named arts editor. He most recently served as a deputy online editor and joined the staff in 2012 as a production assistant. 

Mike Claudio has joined Yahoo Finance as a video producer on the Live Events team. He was previously a live stream producer for Billboard, and has also produced video content for outlets such as Vibe and the Hollywood Reporter.

The Idaho Statesman has promoted Christina Lords to editor. She previously served as the Statesman’s watchdog, breaking and politics editor. She has been with the paper since 2017, and joined the staff from the Idaho Press-Tribune where she served as assistant editor. Prior to that, she was a government reporter for the Post Register in Idaho Falls.

Harry Mayes and Eytan Shander will join WENJ-FM sports radio in Atlantic City, New Jersey on April 1 to host a mid-day show. They will be on-air from from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Mayers will continue his duties as a Branded Sports podcaster, and Shander is currently a host at WPEN-FM.
