Media Moves at National Journal & NYT, The Atlantic Hires a National Security Writer
The National Journal has announced a couple of top promotions for its Daily and Hotline editions:
· Jeff Dufour has been promoted to editor in chief of National Journal Daily, replacing Ben Pershing who has exited the outlet. Dufour most recently served as a senior editor at the outlet and oversaw several pages including Blind Eye, Smart Ideas, Carousel and the weekly Q&A. He joined the staff in 2015 from UrbanDaddy.
· Kyle Trygstad has been promoted to editor in chief of the Hotline. He has been the editor of the outlet since 2015 and has been vital to expanding its influence as the invaluable election and campaign digest for Congressional staffers, political operatives and pundits.
Fred Barnes has joined the Washington Examiner as a senior columnist, effective March 18. He was previously the executive editor of The Weekly Standard, which he co-founded in 1995. Before that, he was a senior editor and White House correspondent for The New Republic and covered the Supreme Court and the White House for the Washington Star.
The New York Times has shifted Connor Ennis to editor of the Business section. He was previously the deputy media editor and prior to that served as the weekend business editor. Ennis joined The Times in 2007 as a staff editor in sport after spending six years at the Associated Press.
Mike Giglio has joined The Atlantic as a staff writer covering national security with a focus on U.S. intelligence. He previously spent five years at BuzzFeed, where he reported on the conflicts in Iraq, Syria, and Ukraine. Before that he was the Middle East correspondent at Newsweek.
Entravision Communications will launch a weekly syndicated radio and podcast show “Neteando” on April 4. The program will be hosted by Kate del Castillo and Jessica Maldonado and will air every Thursday from 1 – 2 p.m. PST on La Tricolor and also on Saturdays 10 – 11a.m on Jose 97.5/107.1 FM Los Angeles. It will focus on pop culture and trending topics while introducing an array of guests.
Samantha Gannon is the new reporter, co-host and producer on Fox’s KDFW-TV's Free4all weeknight live program in Dallas covering sports. She comes from a six-year stint as a sports reporter at KOKH-TV in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
