The Washington Post has hired an editor on the Engagement team, a reporter on National, and has promoted a deputy on the Politics team:
· Yasmeen Abutaleb has joined the paper as a health policy reporter on the National Desk where she covers the inner workings of the Department of Health and Human Services, health legislation on the Hill and the evolution of health policy in the coming 2020 election. She previously spent five years as a reporter at Reuters.
· Kanyakrit “Yu” Vongkiatkajorn has joined the Subscriptions and Engagement Team as community editor. She comes from Mother Jones, where she was assistant editor for audience and breaking news. She has also worked as a freelance reporter and interned at Vice Media in New York and The Bangkok Post in Thailand.
· Amanda Erickson has been promoted to deputy campaign editor for The Post's Politics team. She was most recently a reporter for WordViews and joined the paper in 2008.
Crystal Kim has joined the staff of Bloomberg News as a reporter covering energy capital markets, IPOs and secondary offerings. She started June 17. She comes from Barron’s where she spent the last nine years first as a research assistant and most recently as the fund’s columnist with a focus on ETFs.
TIME magazine has announced that Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie has joined the staff as a contributing editor covering displacement, conflict and human rights. She will write monthly stories and after previously writing an essay for the magazine in April, titled “Why Women Are the Key to Lasting Peace in Afghanistan.” Her most recent article will also be featured in the July 1 issue of Time Magazine.
Terry Kosdrosky is the new social media coordinator and assistant editor for Automotive News Digital. He spent the past 11 years in communication roles for the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. From 1998 to 2005 he was a reporter at Crain's Detroit Business and covered a variety of beats, including auto suppliers. He has also worked for Dow Jones Newswires.
Insider Inc. and eMarketer Inc. will join forces on Jan. 1, 2020, which means millennial-focused financial news site Business Insider and market researcher eMarketer will merge. Alex Springer, the German publisher, purchased Business Insider in 2015.
Kevin Ozebk has been named investigative reporter at Fox-owned WSVN-TV in Miami. He starts later this summer. He was most recently a global correspondent out of the Brussels bureau for Features Story News, an independent broadcast agency. Ozebek’s first stint at WSVN started in 2010, and he left the station in 2015 to join FSN.
WTFX-TV, the Fox station in Philadelphia, has hired Jason Martinez as the evening news anchor; he replaces Lucy Noland who signed off in May. Martinez was at KGTV in San Diego, where he worked as a morning and midday anchor until he departed from the station in March. Previously, he has also worked as an anchor at WPLG-TV in Miami, KTLA-TV in Los Angeles, and KFSN-TV in Fresno.
Jim Clerkin has been recruited as the morning show producer of “The Jackson and Ayla Brown Show” on Country 102.5 WKLB-FM in Boston. He was previously the executive producer of talk radio WRKO-AM in Boston and the "Boston Dot Com" morning show, as well as PD WPYA-FM in Birmingham, Alabama. Clerkin also has a 16-year stint at WXKS-FM in Boston, where he served as MD and morning show producer.
