Last week, it was reported that Jay Fielden exited as the editor in chief of Esquire. Today, Esquire has filled the editor in chief spot with former digital director, Michael Sebastian. He has been with the magazine for about two years, but joined Hearst Digital Media in 2015 as senior news editor. He was previously a reporter for Ad Age. In addition, Esquire’s fashion director, Nick Sullivan, has been promoted to the newly created role of creative director. Before coming to Esquire, Sullivan was an associate fashion editor at GQ UK.

Forbes has hired Kelly Anne Smith as a personal finance reporter, focusing on student loans and industry trends. She comes from Bankrate, where she held the same title. Prior to Forbes, Smith spent time working on digital as an email content specialist and engagement specialist with The Penny Hoarder, as well as an SEO writer for TheHOTH.

Angela Haupt has been promoted at U.S. News & World Report from assistant managing editor, covering health, to managing editor on the health beat. She is also the editor for the newspaper’s Eat + Run blog, which covers healthful eating and fitness. Haupt has been with U.S. News since 2010, where she started as associate editor. In the past, she has freelanced for a variety of publications including Newsday and Women’s Health.

The Wall Street Journal has welcomed three new reporters, all joining different bureaus:

  • Coming to the Washington, D.C. bureau is Katy Stech Ferek as a reporter on the business and policy reporting team. In the past, she has written for Dow Jones Newswires and WSJ as a bankruptcy reporter. Prior to that, she was with The Charleston Post and Courier as a business reporter.

  • Caitlin Ostroff comes to the London bureau to cover markets. She was most recently a data reporter for The Miami Herald. Before that, she was online managing editor for The Independent Florida Alligator.

Front Office Sports, an online magazine that covers news developments in the industry of sports business and administration, has brought on Michael McCarthy as senior writer, covering sports business, media, and marketing.  He was previously with Sporting News Media as a reporter and producer.

Terri Pous has joined Apartment Therapy as managing editor. She makes the move from Buzzfeed, where she started as an editor covering weddings and DIY topics, and was most recently senior editor. Before Buzzfeed, she was with Brides Magazine, where she worked online as the publication’s web producer and social media editor.

WBUR-FM's afternoon show, Radio Boston, has named Tiziana Dearing as the new host. She replaces Meghna Chakrabarti, who exited to co-host NPR’s On Point.  Dearing comes from Boston College, where she has been teaching since 2013.

Paris Nicole has been promoted at Urban One, Inc. WPHI-FM from assistant program director to program director. She will continue as the mid-day on air personality for the station.
