Media Moves at Motherboard & CBS News, Washington Post Names Jerusalem Bureau Chief
The Motherboard team on VICE’s tech desk has hired a senior editor and a staff writer:
· Janus Rose has joined the staff as senior editor and will oversee the tech labor movement. She will focus on algorithmic justice, tech worker unionization, worker opposition to tech-enabled surveillance and censorship tools, and labor equality. Rose previously worked at The Verge and Vocativ.
· Edward Ongweso Jr. has joined as a staff writer focused on the tech labor movement. He will focus on tech unionization efforts, tech worker protests, tech-focused activism, and the failings of capitalism as it relates to the tech labor force.
Nikki Battiste is the new correspondent at CBS News. She is based in New York and reports for all CBS News broadcasts and platforms including CBS This Morning, CBS Evening News, CBS Sunday Morning and CBSN, CBS News' 24/7 live, and streaming news service. She was most recently a freelancer for CBS and before that spent almost a decade at ABC News as a producer and reporter.
The Washington Post has named Steve Hendrix as Jerusalem bureau chief. He starts in September and will oversee coverage of Israel and the Palestinian territories, as well as neighboring Jordan. Hendrix is currently a features writer at The Post and writes general assignment news stories as part of the Local enterprise team. He has been on staff since 2013.
Steve Goldstein has moved to London as the European markets editor for MarketWatch. He is a longtime Washington bureau chief of the site and has been on staff since 2002. Since then, he has served as a staff writer, and then as London bureau chief from 2005 to 2010. Prior to MarketWatch, Goldstein was the managing editor of Global Fund News at Institutional Investor News.
Bloomberg Tax has brought on Colin Wilhelm as Capitol Hill reporter. He was previously an economic policy reporter at The Washington Examiner and before that spent three years at POLITICO as a congressional/fintech/tax reporter for Politico Pro. Before that, Wilhelm was a reporter at American Banker and wrote breaking news and general enterprise work on financial technology, politics and policy.
Greg Easterly has been named general manager for WJBK-TV, the Fox station in Detroit, Michigan, and oversees the daily business and operations of the station. He spent the last three years at Tribune Broadcasting as senior vice president of group operations, and before that served as the president and general manager for Chicago’s WGN-TV. From 2007 to 2014 Easterly was the GM for WJW-TV in Cleveland, Ohio.
Chicago Public Media’s WBEZ-FM radio has named Mary Wisniewski a regular contributor to “Morning Shift.” She appears every Monday with a segment on transportation news. Wisniewski also pens the “Getting Around” column for the Chicago Tribune and has been on the transportation beat since joining the paper in 2016. Before that, she was a reporter for Reuters and a reporter and columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times.
Howard Monroe has joined KYW-TV, the CBS station in Philadelphia, as a reporter. He comes from WJZY-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he spent the last two years as the weekend morning anchor. Before that, Monroe reported for WISH-TV in Indianapolis, Indiana and WMBC-TV in Newton, New Jersey.
WPPZ-FM radio in Philadelphia has welcomed Dyana Williams as afternoon host and is on air Monday through Thursday from 3 – 7 p.m. She has spent the last decade co-hosting Soulful Sunday on WRNB-FM in Philadelphia.
