Rachel Bashein has been promoted to managing editor of New York Magazine’s The Cut two years after joining the blog as an editorial assistant. She was previously a features intern at InStyle and an online editorial intern at New York Magazine, and Marie Claire before that. Bashein is a 2016 graduate of New York University.
Business Insider has hired Monica Chin as a senior technology reporter covering consumer electronics and gadgets. She comes from Tom’s Guide where she spent a year as a staff writer covering breaking news, in-depth features, reviews, and analysis about technology and lifestyle. Before that, Chin was a tech news fellow at Mashable and Moneyish intern at Dow Jones before that.
The New York Times digital has hired three social editors on the Off-Platform team:
· Eleanor Dunn has joined the digital team in London as social editor. She was previously a social media lead for the BBC in Singapore and joined the network in 2017 as a producer.
· Anushka Patil is a new social editor in New York. She was previously a news curation editor at Buzzfeed, apposition she had held for two years. Patil is a recent graduate of Northwestern University.
· Hannah Wise has joined the team in New York as social strategy editor. She comes from the Dallas Morning News where she spent three years, most recently as audience development editor.
Lauren Gurley has joined VICE’s Motherboard as a reporter covering labor in the technology industry, including the intersection with unions, sexual harassment, and blue and white collar workers. She was previously a reporter for The New Republic and covered sexual harassment and inequality, and before that served as the web editor at the North American Congress on Latin America.
CoinDesk has recruited Nathan DiCamillo as a reporter covering the crypto and enterprise blockchain industry. He was most recently a fintech reporter at American Banker and before that worked for Credit Union Journal as a general assignment reporter. DiCamillo has also interned at Dow Jones News Fund and Newsweek.
Vicki Bradley has been promoted to news director at WTXL-TV, the ABC station in Tallahassee, Florida. She was most recently an executive producer at the station and joined the staff in March 2019. Before that, Bradley spent two years at KYTX-TV in Tyler, Texas, as news director. She has also worked as an assistant news director at WFMY-TV in Greensboro, North Carolina, and a producer for The Weather Channel.
Fox-affiliated KSWB-TV in San Diego has hired Jeff McAdam as a reporter and fill-in anchor. He comes from KTTV-TV in Los Angeles where he spent a year as a reporter, and before that worked at KSTU-TV in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Jason Squires has joined KWDO-FM in Fresno, California, as director of programming and marketing. He is also a host at KFRR-FM, known on-air as "Hammer," and has been at the station since 2005.
