The Washington Post has announced several editorial updates on its multiplatform desk:
· Stu Werner has joined the desk as multiplatform editor. He comes from the Chicago Tribune, where he has held editorial positions since 2001 including digital editor, copy desk chief and senior content editor.
· Tanya Pai has also joined the desk as multiplatform editor. She was previously the copy chief of Vox.com and prior to that served as the deputy managing editor and arts editor at the Washingtonian.
· The Post veteran Missy Khamvongsa has been promoted to multiplatform editor for the Weekend section and will work on the entertainment portion for both print and digital. Khamvongsa has spent the past two years on the multiplatform desk as the lead editor of the Love Blog. Before that, she worked for the Sports desk for more than a decade.
Siraj Datoo is the new weekend editor at Bloomberg's Singapore bureau. He has relocated from the newswire’s London office, where he served as the digital news editor since 2016. Prior to that, Datoo worked for BuzzFeed UK as politics reporter, and before that co-founded The Student Journals, a platform for students interested in writing.
The San Antonio Express-News has hired Randi Stevenson as digital editor. She oversees all digital coverage of the publication. Stevenson comes from the Chicago Tribune, where she served as the editor of real estate and lifestyle since 2016. She has also previously worked for the Omaha World-Herald.
Gary Fields has joined the Associated Press as news editor of global religion. He is a veteran journalist with more than three decades of experience ranging from sports reporting to investigative journalism. Most recently, Fields served as the senior manager of content for Lutheran World Relief/IMA World Health. Prior to that, he spent almost 20 years at The Wall Street Journal mostly covering criminal justice and mental health issues.
Outdoor Life has named Andrew McKean hunting editor. Most recently he served as a contributing writer and editor-at-large for the magazine, as well as the brand director at Powderhook, a hunting and fishing app. Prior to that, McKean was the editor in chief at Outdoor Life from 2012-2018, as well as the hunting editor from 2007-2018.
Louisville Business First has brought on Jason Thomas as managing editor. He previously spent six years at The News and Tribune in Jeffersonville, Indiana, and guided news coverage as the assistant editor/editor. Thomas has also previously spent nine years at the Indianapolis Star where he held a variety of reporting titles including government, growth and development, and general assignment.
