Fortune magazine has announced several new staff additions across the organization in Hong Kong, Rome and New York:
· Bernhard Warner is the new Rome-based senior writer/editor covering international finance and investing. He has spent the past several years writing about the business of banking and finance in EMEA as a freelance writer for The Guardian's Long Read, The Atlantic, Fortune, The Boston Globe "Ideas," Slate, Wired, BusinessWeek, and others. Warner has also previously served as a Reuters correspondent covering the Internet, technology, and media industries.
· Nicole Goodkind has joined Fortune in New York as a writer covering government, politics, and business. Most recently, she has been a senior politics reporter at Newsweek, focusing on that same intersection between politics, policy, and business. Before that, she worked as a reporter and video producer for Yahoo Finance for nearly five years.
· Naomi Xu Elegant has joined the Hong King bureau as a staff writer reporting on business and tech in China and in Asia at large. She also helps edit the Sino-Saturday edition of Fortune’s CEO Daily newsletter. Xu Elegant previously covered the public school system in Philadelphia and interned at CNBC's Beijing bureau.
· Grady McGregor is also a new writer based in Hong Kong. He covers business, tech, and all things China-related. Most recently, he was an editor with Synaps, a qualitative research agency based in Beirut. McGregor has also covered political and other news for the Dickinson Press in North Dakota.
Will Gleason has been promoted to editor of Time Out New York. He joined the outlet in 2014 and most recently served as deputy features editor, creating and editing content across print and digital channels. In addition to overseeing features, Gleason also managed Time Out New York’s daily identity across digital news posts, newsletters and social media. Previously, he was Time Out New York’s staff writer and content editor, and held a variety of editorial positions at Viacom, New York Post and Next Magazine.
GQ has recruited Nikki Ogunnaike as deputy fashion director and will served as the liaison between the magazine and the fashion houses, as well as ensure coverage is elevated and cutting edge across print, digital, video, social, and experiences. She comes from Elle.com, where she has been on staff since 2015, most recently as style director. At Elle, Ogunnaike was best known for Online,IRL a series she created for YouTube and Snapchat, as well as her viral story entitled How to Fix Fashion.
Carol Fowler has joined KSDK-TV, the NBC affiliate in St. Louis, as director of content. She was most recently a digital consultant and before that served as senior vice president, digital news products at the Chicago Sun-Times. Fowler is also a former news director of three Chicago stations (WGN-TV, WBBM-TV and WFLD-TV.)
Salem Media Group has appointed Pat Kelley general manager for the Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina radio market. He has previously served in management roles for Townsquare Media, iHeart Media, Viacom Media, and others including over 25 years in Chicago.
