The Charlotte Observer has hired Austin Weinstein as banking reporter; he starts in December. Weinstein was most recently a financial regulations reporter for Bloomberg News and has been on staff since 2017. He is a graduate of the University of California Berkeley.

Allison Pohle is the new multiple mediums reporter for The Wall Street Journal. She works on the young audience team and will help launch a new digital magazine that will help bring The Journal’s journalism to a broader readership.  Pohle comes from WBUR public radio in Boston where she worked as an associate producer for “On Point.” She has also previously reporter for Boston.com and freelanced for the Boston Globe's Metro West section.

Business Insider in San Francisco has welcomed back Eugene Kim as a senior correspondent. He covers e-commerce and Amazon, among other topics. Kim was most recently a tech reporter for CNBC out of San Francisco and before that worked for The Information. His first sting at Business insider was from 2014 to 2017 and he was known for executive interview of various CEOs.

Evan Wyloge has joined The Gazette in Denver, Colorado, as a data and investigations reporter. He was most recently a data and investigative editor for the Desert Sun and has also previously worked for the Arizona Capital Times as a new media specialist. Additionally, Wyloge has worked as a senior reporter and as a data editor at the Arizona Center for Investigative Reporting and News21 respectively.

Quartz has named Oliver Staley as culture and lifestyle editor. He covers the pursuit and business of fashion, travel, entertainment, wellness, and cannabis, and occasionally writes about management, economics, healthcare, sports and comic-book culture. Staley has been with Quartz since 2016 and most recently served as the deputy finance editor. Prior to that, he spent almost a decade at Bloomberg News.

Mehreen Kasana has joined the new tech publication Input as a reporter covering tech news. She has previously worked at Bustle as a news writer and before that spent five years as new media editor at Tanqeed. Kasana has also worked as a front-page editor for HuffPost, and a writer for The Nation in Pakistan.  Input is an online magazine and part of the Bustle Digital Group focused on technology news, including industry updates, device reviews, general consumer tech coverage.
