Charlotte Ryan has changed beats to airbus and transportation at Bloomberg News. She previously covered Brexit and markets for two years. Ryan joined Bloomberg as a news intern in 2016 and before that freelanced for Newsbase.
Protocol has announced four new hires:
Demian Bulwa has been named the head of investigations and projects. He comes from the San Francisco Chronicle, where he worked for 20 years, most recently as a metro editor covering local and regional news and a prior to that, as a reporter. Bula has also served as a staff writer for the San Francisco Examiner and the Contra Costa Times.
Tom Krazit has joined as a reporter covering cloud computing and enterprise technology. Most recently, he was editor in chief for Mostly Cloudy, where he covered cloud computing and its impact on the world. Prior to that, he reported on influential cloud companies as a cloud and enterprise editor for GeekWire for two years.
Karyne Levy has taken over the copy desk as copy chief. Levy joins Protocol from Scribd, where she served as a senior producer and editorial news manager before that. She has also worked at NerdWallet as an assigning editor and copy editor.
Levi Sumagaysay has been named Silicon Valley reporter. In her new role, she will cover Silicon Valley and Bay Area tech companies, people and issues. She comes from the Bay Area New Group, where she served as a tech enterprise reporter and editor. Sumagaysay joined the Bay Area News Group as a producer and blogger where she covered technology and produced SiliconValley.com
Lauren Keary has joined Buzzfeed’s Bring me! as a travel writer. She joins from the Evening Standard where she served as a lifestyle writer. Keary also served as a freelance writer and editor for three years where she contributed to various outlets like ASweetLife and FoodBeat.
The Ski Journal has named Kade Krichko editor in chief. Most recently, Krichko served as a freelance journalist and photojournalist for Source Interlink Media where he covered the outdoor industry, travel, sports, culture and current events. He has also previously worked for Outside Online as a contributor and the Boston Globe as a globe correspondent.
Nathan Phelps has joined Spectrum News 1 Wisconsin as a multimedia reporter. He will be based in Green Bay and the Fox cities. In his new role, he will cover local news and citizen profiles. Previously, Phelps was a content writer for KI. Prior to that, he served as a reporter for the Green Bay Press-Gazette for 19 years.
WCSC-TV, the CBS affiliate in Charleston, South Carolina, has hired Jared Kofsky as an investigative producer. He joins the station from Jersey Digs where he served as a reporter for three years covering New Jersey economics, retail and government.
Steve Nielsen has joined KSAZ-TV, the FOX affiliate in Phoenix, as a reporter. He was most recently an anchor and reporter for WPRI-TV and WNAC-TV, both in Providence, Rhode Island. Prior to that, Nielson served as a morning anchor for KFDX-TV in Wichita Falls, Texas.
