Business Insider has hired Alanis King Jones as an associate editor of Transportation. She most recently spent more than four years with Jalopnik.com as a staff writer, and before that more than four years with Autoweek as a contributing writer.
Alan Kline has been promoted to editor in chief for American Banker. Kline has spent more than 20 years with American Banker in various roles including community banking editor and senior editor. Prior to joining American Banker, he spent more than a year as a business reporter for the Washington Times.
Weekend Today has named NBC veteran Kristen Welker as co-host. She has been with the NBC family since 2005 as a reporter for WCAU-TV in Philadelphia, followed by working up the ranks to be in her current larger role as a White House correspondent for NBC News. While she has been a White House correspondent since 2011, Welker first appeared on the Today Show as an intern in 1997.
Marina Mayer has joined Food Logistics as editor in chief. She comes from Refrigerated & Frozen Foods Magazine where she also served as editor in chief for more than eight years. Prior to that Mayer spent more than three years as executive editor for Snack Food & Wholesale Bakery.
Refrigerated & Frozen Foods has hired Michael Costa as editor in chief, replacing Marina Mayer. Costa most recently worked at Hotel F&B Magazine as an editorial director for more than 12 years focusing coverage on lodging food, beverage options and all things foodservice hospitality.
dot.LA, the upcoming publication covering startups in Southern California, has announced two new hires as it prepares for its debut next week.
Joe Bel Bruno has been named as editor in chief. He most recently served as managing editor for Variety for more than two years. Bruno has also worked for The Hollywood Reporter as a news director, plus he spent more than four years at the LA Times as both a deputy business editor and deputy entertainment editor.
Tami Abdollah has been named senior reporter. She previously worked for the Associated Press for seven years serving first as a law enforcement reporter, then serving as a cybersecurity and terrorism reporter.
John Rogers has joined WRIC-TV, the ABC affiliate in Richmond, Virginia, as a morning news anchor for the “Good Morning Richmond” newscast. He comes from WFLA-TV, the NBC affiliate in Tampa, Florida after more than seven years at the station where he served as a reporter and anchor.
KTHV-TV, the CBS affiliate in Little Rock, Arkansas, has announced two promotions.
Shayla Teater has been promoted to news director after serving as an assistant news director for the station since 2018. Prior to her news director roles, Teater served as a senior executive producer for the station for four years.
Martha Myrick has been promoted from executive producer to assistant news director, filling the vacancy left by Shayla Teater. Myrick has been with KTHV-TV for a collective of six years, serving initially as an intern and working up the ranks to executive producer. Myrick left Arkansas for a two-year stint at WESH-TV, the NBC affiliate in Orlando, Florida, to serve as a news producer before returning home to KTHV-TH.
