Fox News has announced one promotion and a new hire:
Chad Pergram was named congressional correspondent. He has been with the network for 12 years, most recently as senior Capitol Hill producer. In his new role, Pergram will report on breaking news from policy makers in Washington, D.C., across all Fox platforms.
Alexandra Hogan has joined the staff as a national correspondent. Prior to Fox News, she worked for WFMZ-TV for three years as a morning news reporter and fill-in anchor and covered widely known stories like the Bill Cosby’s trial and the 2018 Allentown tragedy.
Mandy Velez has been named assistant managing editor for The Daily Beast. Velez previously held the role of senior social media editor for two years. Prior to The Daily Beast, she was a social and email editor for Google, and before that served as a writer and researcher for Conde Nast.
National Public Radio has hired Lauren Sommer as a climate correspondent based in San Francisco. She joins NPR from KQED-FM, the public radio station in Northern California, where she served for 13 years as a science and environment reporter. Prior to that, Sommer served as a freelance writer contributing to NPR for eight years.
Springfield News-Leader has promoted Amos Bridges to news director and editor in chief, replacing Cheryl Whitsitt, who has left the paper after 32 years. Bridges has worked for the Springfield News-Leader for 16 years, most recently as content coach for Watchdog since 2016. He joined the paper as an intern.
Alex Kotch joined the Center for Media and Democracy as a full-time reporter covering corporate money in politics and right-wing politics. Kotch was previously a senior investigative reporter and editor for The Sludge and briefly served as a contributor for the outlet in January. Prior to that he was a contributor for TYT Investigates where he covered money and influence.
Boston Common has named Abby Bielagus editor in chief, replacing Lisa Pierpont. She previously served as lifestyle editor for three years. Prior to Boston Common, Bielagus was a stylist for Ennis for six years and prior to that served as an associate editor for Bedford St. Martins.
Spriha Srivastava has joined Business Insider as an executive editor in the London newsroom. She comes from CNBC International where she served as deputy editor for two years, and prior to that worked as a financial blogger and reporter. Prior to CNBC, she was a senior staff writer for the Financial Times where she covered the personal finance market.
City Newspaper in Rochester, New York, has hired Gino Fanelli as a news staff writer. Prior to his new role, Fanelli served as a government, healthcare, finance and beer reporter for the Rochester Business Journal since 2017. He has also previously worked as a stringer for the Associated Press for four years.
WSBE-TV, the PBS affiliate in Providence, Rhode Island, has hired Bill Rappleye as a news reporter. He joins the investigative team to cover local news. Rappleye comes from WJAR-TV, where he served as a political reporter for 17 years.
