Andrew Couts has been upped to deputy editor at Gizmodo. He was most recently the managing editor of the site and has been on staff since 2017. Prior to that, Couts worked at The Daily Dot as politics editor and as staff writer for Digital Trends before that.
Bloomberg News has welcomed a new reporter and promoted another, across the organization:
Jason Booth has joined Activist Insight as a senior writer. He covers daily news, special reports, and activism based on Active Insight’s proprietary data. Booth was most recently a senior correspondent at Activist Investment and MLex Market Insight and has previously also worked at the China Money Network and at The Wall Street Journal.
GreenWire and E&E Daily have moved reporter Kelsey Brugger to the federal regulations beat. She was previously a general assignment reporter for both publications since 2018 and before that she served as an intern/reporter at Santa Barbara Independent.
Desmond Butler is joining the Washington Post as an investigative reporter on National’s climate and environment team, where he will focus on holding companies and governments accountable for actions related to climate change. He comes from the Associated Press, where he spent 15 years, most recently in Washington as an international investigations reporter.
The Star Tribune in Minnesota has welcomed Briana Bierschbach as a covering state politics and government. She was most recently a politics reporter for Minnesota Public Radio and before that worked as a state government reporter for MinnPost.com and Politics in Minnesota before that.
Kaveh Waddell is the new deputy editor for the Digital Lab at Consumer Reports, which tests connected products and services to better empower consumer choice regarding privacy, digital security and consumer protection. He comes from Axios where he spent two years as an emerging technologies reporter.
WPTV-TV, the NBC station in West Palm Beach, Florida, has welcomed Maggie Salas-Amaro as a producer for the Sunday morning show “To the Point with Michael Williams.” She was previously a producer at Miami’s Univision 23 on regional public affairs program “Al Punto Florida” and is also a former network executive.
Heather Janssen has joined KOVR-TV, the CBS station in Sacramento, California, as the station’s first full-time multimedia journalist. She comes from KOLD-TV in Tucson, Arizona, where she spent three years as a reporter.
