Thomas Gibbons-Neff has been named correspondent for The New York Times and is based in Kabul. He has been a reporter in the Washington bureau since 2017, helping to cover the Pentagon. Before joining The Times, Gibbons-Neff worked for two years at The Washington Post.
The Washington Post has announced that Dr. Leana S. Wen will join the Opinions section as a contributing columnist effective immediately. She will write on a range of public health and health policy topics. Dr. Wen is also an emergency physician and Visiting Professor of Health Policy and Management at the George Washington University School of Public Health, where she is the Distinguished Fellow at the Fitzhugh Mullan Institute for Health Workforce Equity.
After 30 years at the Los Angeles Times, editor and columnist Chris Erskine has left the paper. He has been a nationally known humor columnist and editor at the paper since the 1990s and has written for the Sports, Travel and Saturday sections and edited on the paper’s Features staff.
Jameson Fleming has been promoted to senior editor, memberships for Adweek. He is responsible for leading the outlet's strategy to build a stronger membership program from designing new members-only benefits, better newsletters and features that help readers discover more of Adweek's content. Fleming was most recently a chief of staff at the magazine and has been on staff since 2016.
KLLY-FM radio in Oildale, California, has promoted Erik Fox to program director and afternoon host for KLLY-FM. He was previously the music director of KLLY and midday host at KKBB-FM. Fox's career also includes stint as the highly rated mid-day show host at KKBB-FM in Bakersfield, California.
Lora Lavigne is the new reporter at NBC's WRAL-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina. She comes from KLFY-TV in Lafayette, Louisiana, where she covered live breaking news for the morning and noon newscasts. Prior to that, Lavigne interned at NBC News in New Orleans.
