WaPo Managing Editor Heads to ESPN

The Washington Post managing editor Kevin Merida has announced that he will depart from paper on Oct. 30. He is headed to ESPN to serve as a senior vice president and will serve as editor in chief of The Undefeated. Merida has been with The Washington Post since 1993, when the joined the paper as a congressional correspondent and national politics writer. Since then, he has served as styles writer, Side Street columnist, associate editor, assistant managing editor and national editor. He was named managing editor in February 2013. Prior to working at the Post, he worked at The Dallas Morning News in a number of roles, including political reporter , national correspondent, White House correspondent and assistant managing editor overseeing local and foreign news.
