Grazia USA has named Ty Gaskin style editor, a promotion that comes less than six months after he joined the publication as a fashion writer. Prior to joining Grazia in April 2021, Gaskin spent two years at L'Officiel New York as style and grooming writer. He has also contributed fashion features to Harper's Bazaar on a freelancer basis.
Dan Hirschhorn has been promoted to assistant managing editor on the digital desk of the Philadelphia Inquirer, where he will lead coverage of the newsletter program and grow digital storytelling initiatives. Hirschhorn has been a senior politics editor at the paper since he joined the staff in October 2019, and before that was the digital editorial director at Barron's.
The Sacramento Bee has hired Robin Epley as opinion writer focusing on Sacramento County politics. She comes to the Bee from the Fort Bragg Advocate-News and the Mendocino Beacon, where she was the only full-time staffer for both papers. Before that, Epley was a staff reporter for the Chico Enterprise-Record.
Jana Winter is the newest investigative correspondent at Yahoo News. She spent the past couple of years as a contributor at the outlet. Winter has also previously served as a Boston Globe Spotlight fellow, a national security reporter at The Intercept, and an investigative reporter at Fox News Channel.
The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, California, has welcomed Nicole Kottmann as features editor. She was most recently the features editor for the Wyoming Tribune Eagle in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where she spent two years managing all content published by the paper's weekend ToDo and Journey sections. Prior to that, Kottmann worked for Observer Media Group in Sarasota, Florida.
Julie Pace has been named senior vice president and executive editor of the Associated Press. In her new role, she leads AP's global news operations and oversees news content in all formats from journalists based in 250 locations in 100 countries. Pace joined AP in 2007 as video producer, and most recently spent four years as assistant managing editor and Washington bureau chief directing multiformat coverage of U.S. politics and elections, national security and domestic policy. Pace is the recipient of the White House Correspondents’ Association Merriman Smith Award for writing on deadline and AP’s Oliver S. Gramling Award for Journalism, the news agency’s highest internal honor.
Forbes has tapped Marisa Dellatto as a news desk reporter covering breaking news, arts and entertainment. She comes to Forbes from the New York Post, where she had served as an editorial assistant and features reporter. Prior to that, Dellatto spent a year at Boston Globe Media as a lifestyle co-op for Boston.com.
The New York Times has promoted Grace Ashford to a reporter on the Metro desk covering politics and government from the Albany bureau. She previously worked on the Investigations team as a researcher and junior reporter, a position she's held since joining The Times in 2017. Before that, Ashford was a freelancer in New York City.
Liz Skalka has joined Huffpost as politics reporter covering the GOP. Most recently, she was the Ohio politics reporter at The Blade. Skalka has also reported for Hearst Connecticut Media and covered City Hall, immigration and social issues for two years. She also spent four years at the New York Post as a Production manager, designer, and proofreader.
The Chicago Reader has hired Hugo Balta as associate editor. He was most recently news director at Chicago’s PBS station WTTW-Channel 11, EP of the weeknight newscast “Chicago Tonight” and host of the weekly “Chicago Tonight: Latino Voices.” Balta has previously held various news manager positions, including MSNBC, ESPN, WCBS and Telemundo New York.
Jillian Goodman is the new opinion editor at The Information. She was most recently the deputy editor at Bloomberg Green and oversaw its climate change coverage. Before that, Goodman was the politics editor of the Etc. section at Businessweek, an associate editor at Fast Company, and an online producer at New York Magazine.
CNET has hired Monisha Ravisetti as a science writer. She was most recently a science reporter at The Academic Times and before that was a science journalism intern at Children and Screens: Institute of Digital Media and Child Development.
Sabrina Escobar has joined Barron's as markets and trending news reporter. Most recently, she was a reporting intern on the wealth management beat at Barron's Advisor and before that interned at LatinNews and Newsday Media Group.
Fortune will welcome Alyson Shontell as editor in chief on October 6. She is currently wrapping up her duties as editor in chief of Business Insider, a position she has held since 2016. Shontell has been at Business Insider since its inception in 2008 and is one of the founding members of the site. Prior to that, she was a magazine network intern at Conde Nast.
Hardika Singh is the newest commodities reporter at The Wall Street Journal covering energy and metals; she is based in Columbus, Ohio. Singh spent the past two years at Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs as a business and entrepreneurship reporter, and before that interned at Bloomberg.
Eric Jackson has joined Sportico as a sports business reporter. He comes to the outlet from Atlanta Business Chronicle where he spent two years covering sports business. Before that, Jackson worked at the Lake City Reporter for five years and the Peach State Sports for a little over a year.
Mergermarket and Dealreporter in New York have welcomed Ryan Gould as a senior reporter covering mergers and acquisitions, IPOs and SPACs. Most recently, he covered capital markets and industrial M&A for the outlets in London, and before that served as a financial writer and head of content at capital.com and was a news editor at Cherwell Newspaper, University of Oxford.
MarketWatch has named Meera Jagannathan inequality editor tasked to shape coverage of the financial dimensions of race, identity and inequality in all its forms. She has been with Dow Jones since 2017, most recently as a reporter and editor on the personal finance team. Prior to that, Jagannathan was an entertainment reporter at the New York Daily News.
Sam Mintz has joined the Boston Business Journal and tech site BostInno as a reporter. Most recently, he was a transportation reporter at Politico and author of the e-newsletter Morning Transportation. Prior to Politico, Mintz covered energy policy at federal agencies and in Congress for E&E News.
NPR has named Adriene Hill managing editor of the California Regional Newsroom, which includes KQED San Francisco, KPBS San Diego, KXJZ Sacramento, KPCC Los Angeles/LAist, and KCRW Los Angeles. Hill has served as the interim managing editor for the past six months. Before that, she was the managing editor of KPCC/LAist, and also served as a correspondent and fill-in host for the public radio business program “Marketplace.”
NBC News has promoted Meghan Rafferty to executive producer for the "NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt" evening broadcast. She has been on the Nightly News team for four years, most recently as senior broadcast producer. Before joining NBC News in 2017, Rafferty spent nearly a decade as a producer on CNN’s "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer."
KTVE-TV, the NBC affiliate in Monroe, Louisiana and El Dorado, Arkansas, has tapped Chris Demirdjian as evening news anchor. He will co-anchor the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts alongside Christina Jensen and starts in early October. Demirdjian will stay on as sports director for KTVE and its sister station, Fox affiliate KARD.
Andy Lacombe has been promoted to news director at Spectrum News 1 in Worcester, Massachusetts, He has been at Charter Communications for two decades, most recently as assistant news director. He and began as a sports/anchor and reporter.
