The Washington Post has hired two editors in the News Service, and promoted one on the Politics desk:

  • Sara Wildberger has joined the paper as a multiplatform editor in the News Service. She comes to The Post from Argentum, where she was editor of Senior Living Executive magazine and other publications. Wildberger has also been an editor on the business desk at the Miami Herald and a features editor and columnist at the Florida Times-Union. 
  • Mark Worth has also joined The Post as a multiplatform editor in the News Service. He was previously at the Dallas Morning News, where he worked on zoned local coverage and SEO strategies during the pandemic. Prior to that, Worth worked at the Miami Herald as a news editor, sports editor, community news editor and copy editor for investigative pieces.
  • Sophia Nguyen has joined the National Politics desk as an assistant editor, where she will take on a new role helping conceive and edit pieces about politics, policy and the federal government. She has been at The Post since 2018 and joined the paper after being the books and arts editor at Harvard Magazine.

Nicholas Portuondo has joined E&E News as a Congress and energy reporter on the daily team. He spent the past seven months as a reporting fellow at the outlet and before that completed a four-month internship at The Spokesman-Review.

CQ Roll Call has hired Jessie Hellmann as a reporter covering  healthcare and the Biden administration. She spent the past year at Modern Healthcare and before that covered national healthcare policy, Covod-19, Congress, and the Trump administration for The Hill. She started her journalism career at The Gazette, the daily paper at Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Scott Trubey has been named economy editor for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and will lead the paper's coverage of Georgia's economy. He joined AJC in 2010 as a reporter and covered commercial real estate, banking and finance. Before that, Trubey was a staff writer for the Atlanta Business Chronical and an editor for The Augusta Chronicle before that.

The Independent has hired Tom Murray as senior US culture reporter. He will be based in Los Angeles although he will be spending the next three months in London. Murray spent the past six years at Insider, most recently as the entertainment editor.

Keyaira Boone is the newest senior entertainment reporter at Insider. She is a former contributing editor to Essence and has covered entertainment, art, and style as a freelance writer for Allure, InStyle, Emmy Magazine, Bustle, and HelloBeautiful.

Gannett’s Florida USA TODAY Network has welcomed Sergio Bustos as Florida enterprise/politics editor. He will oversee coverage of the 2022 elections and will work with a team of statewide reporters as well as collaborate with editors and reporters throughout the network in pursuit of high-impact Florida news and enterprise. Bustos is a veteran reporter and has reported for Gannett’s Wilmington, Del., News Journal, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Gannett News Service and Associated Press. He is also a former state/politics for the Miami Herald and former editor of POLITICO Florida.

Tony Briscoe will join the Los Angeles Times April 4 as an environmental reporter covering the intersection of air quality and environmental health. He was most recently an investigative reporter for Chicago-based ProPublica Midwest and before that spent five years covering the Great Lakes and climate change for the Chicago Tribune.

The Washington Post has named Maria Glod deputy local editor. She has been at the paper for 25 years, and her entire career was spent in Metro. She was a reporter in in Loudoun, Fairfax and Prince George’s counties, as well as downtown Washington, D.C. For the past 11 years she has been an editor for crime, the courts, and criminal justice.

Christian Blauvelt has been promoted to executive managing editor at IndiWire. His new responsibilities include top-editing news, planning of evergreen content, and coordinating the site’s staffing, operations, and budgeting. Blauvelt has been at IndieWire since 2018 and since then has been the managing editor of the site. Prior to that, he served as deputy culture editor for BBC Worldwide and an editor for before that.

Law360 has welcomed back Xiumei Dong as senior reporter covering the legal industry, law firms and their business and growth strategy. She spent the past seven months as a legal business reporter for Thomson Reuters and before that was a senior reporter at Law360.  Dong has also covered the legal industry for Business of Law.

Nicole Goodkind has joined CNN Business as a senior reporter. She was most recently a reporter for Fortune Magazine where she covered politics and business for almost three years. Before that, Goodkind, was a senior political correspondent for Newsweek and a reporter for Yahoo Finance.

Bloomberg Law has tapped Gary Harki  as an investigations reporter, effective early April. Most recently, he was an investigative reporter covering criminal justice for Spotlight PA and before that spent several years reporting for The Virginian-Pilot.

The Wall Street Journal has added two producers:

  • Liz Webber has joined as newsletter producer. She comes to The Journal from Quartz, where she was the deputy email editor for almost two years.
  • Gretchen Tarrant has joined the staff as audience interaction producer. She was previously with BuzzFeed where she was an audience development strategist.

Emmy Lucas has joined Forbes as an assistant editor for its leadership and communities team. In addition to working on various leadership and career sections, Lucas also assists on lists, including Forbes 30 Under 30. Most recently, she was an intern at FierceMarkets.

Modern Healthcare has tapped Mary Ellen Podmolik as editor. Podmolik is the former business editor of the Chicago Tribune and accepted a buyout from the paper after 13 years in 2021. Most recently, she was the director of communications for the office of Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas

Jamie Burch has joined KVII-TV, the ABC station in Amarillo, Texas, as news director. He was previously an assistant news director at KXXV-TV in Waco, Texas and is also a former news director at Sinclair's WKXS-TV in Abilene, Texas and KBTX-TV in Bryan, Texas.

KERO-TV, the ABC station in Bakersfield, California, has promoted Veronica Placencia to news director. She spent the past two-and-a-half years as the station's assistant news director and joined the staff in 2019 from Nexstar Media in El Paso, Texas. Placencia has also worked at Entravision Communications as an assignment manager, and a at KTSM-TV as a producer.

Michael Oder has been tapped as news director at KTTC-TV, the dual NBC/CW+ television station in Rochester, Minnesota. He spent the past five years as assistant news director at KBTX Media in Texas and before that reporter for CBS42 in Birmingham, Alabama.

WNCN-TV, the CBS station in Raleigh, North Carolina, has welcomed Chris Payne as assistant news director. He previously held the same position at ABC's WRIC-TV in Virginia.

Katie Barlow has been promoted to chief legal correspondent at  Fox-owned WTTG-TV in Washington, D.C., upped from a reporter. Barlow is also a former lawyer and has been at the station since 2021. She has previously covered Capitol Hill with WTOP, as well as the Supreme Court with SCOTUSblog and NPR’s Nina Totenberg.

Spectrum News 1 has named Annika Pergament a national anchor to drive breaking news and national content. She comes from Spectrum News NY1 -- her second stint started in 2001 -- and has been business anchor and producer of the Fortune Business Report. Before that, Pergament was a corresponded at CBS 2 News in New York and a political reporter for NY1 News before that.
