Health magazine has hired Mellanie Perez as editor. She will edit evergreen health pieces with a focus on wellness. Perez was most recently a freelance writer and has contributed to SHAPE, Health, Dermstore, Incisal Edge Magazine, and Houston CityBook. Before that, she was a wellness editor at Healthline Media.
Kevin Huynh has been promoted to associate fashion market editor at WSJ. Magazine and covers the women's ready-to-wear and accessories markets as well as red carpet fashion. Huynh joined WSJ. Magazine in 2018 as a fashion market assistant and before that worked as an accessories assistant at Interview Magazine.
Highsnobiety has tapped Sebastian Jean as fashion director of the New York team. In his new role, he will work across Highsnobiety's fashion department and retail platform. Previously, Jean was a contracted brand consultant at le PERE and a freelance fashion stylist.
The Los Angeles Times has named Betty Hallock deputy food editor. She is returning to a role she held between 2004 and 2013. Between stints with the paper, Hallock has published four cookbooks, led food coverage at Los Angeles magazine and launched food content at the digital start-up Roundglass.
Sarah Ellis has joined Elite Daily as dating editor and covers sex, relationships, online dating, celebrity couples, and reality dating shows. She was most recently the updates editor ay BDG and before that held writing and producing positions at HelathCentral and Greatlist.
Associated Press has tapped Tara Copp as Pentagon correspondent. She joins the news service from Defense One, where she was a senior Pentagon correspondent for almost two years. Before that, Copp was a Pentagon correspondent for Stars and Stripes and has also covered the Department of Defense for the Washington Examiner, Jane’s Defense Weekly, the Austin American-Statesman and Scripps Howard News Service.
Business Insider has promoted Melia Russell to senior tech correspondent and will write news and features about startups and venture capital, focused on growth-stage companies, the funding deals that investors are clamoring to get into, and corporate culture. Previously, she was a startups and VC correspondent and before that spent a year as a tech reporter at the San Francisco Chronicle.
Thai Phi Le is the new senior managing editor for new launches at Industry Dive. Most recently, she was managing editor leading food, grocery, marketing, restaurant, supply chain and transport dives. She has been at the company since 2018.
Barron's has welcomed Catherine Dunn as an enterprise and accountability writer. She spent the past four years at The Philadelphia Inquirer, where wrote about corporate tax breaks, opioid litigation, and worker health and safety. Dunn has also worked at Fusion, Vice News Tonight and HBO.
Ayla Ellison is the new editor in chief of Fierce and will oversee Fierce Healthcare, Fierce HealthIT, Fierce Biotech and Fierce Pharma. She joins Fierce from Becker's Hospital Review, where she has been reporting on finance, legal & regulatory, compensation and transaction and valuation issues, and also oversaw CFO E-Weekly.
Annie Galvin has been promoted to senior producer of “The Ezra Klein Show,” part of The New York Times Opinion Audio team. Galvin has been part of the staff since 2021 and has established herself as a truly essential member of the team. Prior to that, she was an associate editor and Mellon/ACLS public fellow at Public Books.
CNBC Make It has hired Kamaron McNair as money reporter. She previously covered personal finance and money news at theSkimm, and before that wrote for LendingTree and The Daily Beast. McNair has also interned at ELLE.
CNN anchor and correspondent Amara Walker will anchor "New Day Weekend," along with Boris Sanchez. New Day Weekend" airs on CNN on Saturdays 6-9 a.m. ET and on Sundays 6-8 a.m. ET. Walker will also anchor "CNN Newsroom" 10-11 a.m. ET on Saturday along with Sanchez. She joined CNN in 2012.
WABC-TV, the ABC station in New York City, has named Scott Matthews as the station’s new news director. He most recently worked at CNN helping develop weekly news series across CNN platforms. Before that, he spent eight years at CNBC.
WTXL-TV, the ABC station in Tallahassee, Florida, has tapped Jasmine Monroe as a morning anchor. She will anchor the morning block alongside Karah Bailey. Monroe comes from WKYC in Cleveland where she was a morning show anchor and reporter.
