The Associated Press has named two new deputy Middle East directors:
· Balint Szlanko will oversee regional planning, video production and budget issues as deputy Middle East director. He is a former video journalist in northern Iraq.
· Dusan Vranic will oversee photography and digital storytelling as deputy Middle East director. He is a longtime chief photographer for Israel and Palestinian territories.
Abbie Fentress-Swanson has been named executive producer of podcasts and audio at the Los Angeles Times. She is a former public radio reporter and most recently served as executive producer of Wondery’s “I, Survivor.” She has also served as supervising producer at KCRW-FM in Los Angeles, and before that worked at New York Public Radio as a digital editor and reporter.
Debtwire has brought one David Levitt as a reporter. He comes from The Real Deal where he spent a year as a reporter. Prior to that, he worked for Bloomberg for 18 years and left the company in August 2018. During his journalism career Levitt also had a 14-year stint at the News Tribune paper in New Jersey.
After three years on-air, “Vice News Tonight” has been canceled by HBO effective in September. The weeknight newscast was produced by Vice Media with the goal of hooking younger views into the nightly news habit. Vice Media has also announced that Josh Tyrangiel, the company's executive vice president who launched the newscast, will be leaving Vice.
Corinna Delgado is the new co-host of “The Morning Show with Jason Kidd” on WIAD-FM in Washington, D.C. She can be heard weekdays from 6-10 a.m. Delgado comes from Alaska Integrated Media where she was the digital content director for a year. Before that she spent several years at Cumulus Radio KRBE-FM in Texas as an on-air talent.
WABC-FM talk radio in New York and WNBM-FM urban station in Bronxville, New York have hired Dave LaBrozzi as program director. He joins the stations from PLJ in New York, where he served as program director since May 2018. Prior to that, LaBrozzi was vice president, programming, for Entercom’s four-station cluster in Baltimore, Maryland, for 14 years.
Kirk Minihane has joined Barstool Sports as host of “The Kirk Minihane Show” where he covers sports, politics, culture and more. He comes from WEEI-FM in Boston, Massachusetts, where he spent a year as a host. He is also a longtime producer and host of the “Enough About Me” podcast.
“Good Day Austin” on KTBC-TV, the Fox station in Austin, Texas, has hired Leslie Rangel as anchor and host. She started June 13 alongside Dave Froehlich and Amanda Salinas. Rangel comes from KWKT-TV in Waco, Texas where she was an evening anchor for two years. Before that, Rangel spent time reporting in Austin, Oklahoma City and Beaumont.
Renee Washington has been named news director for KNBC-TV in Los Angeles. She most recently served as acting news director of the station and joined the staff in 2018. She has previously worked in Philadelphia, New York and as the assistant news director at two Los Angeles stations.
