Kaylee Hartung has joined ABC News as a New York-based correspondent. She was most recently a national news correspondent at CNN, based in Atlanta. Prior to that, Hartung was a reporter at ESPN and a producer/reporter at CBS News in Washington, D.C., before that.
The Wall Street Journal has named Francesca Fontana reporter for The Exchange, The Journal’s weekend business and features section. She was previously a reporter on the equities beat and has been with the paper since 2018, and briefly freelanced for them in 2017. Fontana has also reported for TheStreet and the Register-Guard.
Allison Levitsky is the new tech reporter at Silicon Valley Business Journal covering big technology companies with a focus on Adobe, eBay, PayPal, Cisco and Broadcom while also keeping tabs on Facebook, Google and Apple and writing about workforce trends. She comes from Palo Alto Daily Post where she spent two years as staff reporter. Before that, she worked for Bay City News Inc.
The Daily Line, the subscription newsletter dedicate to state and local politics in Illinois, has brought on Alex Nitkin as a reporter covering Cook County as well as and zoning and development issues. He was most recently a reporter for The Real Deal Chicago where he reported news and trends in residential, commercial and industrial real estate across Chicago. Prior to that he was a reporter for the now-defunct DNAInfo and covered the far Northwest side of Chicago.
Dahlia Ghabour has been tapped by the Courier-Journal in Louisville, Kentucky, as a reporter covering local and regional restaurant news; she will start Aug. 5. She has wrapped up her duties at the Jacksonville Business Journal July 24 where she has covered the retail and restaurant beats since 2017. Ghabour has previously worked for the Sarasota Herald-Tribune as an arts and culture reporter and for the Gainesville Sun as a general assignment intern.
Institutional Investor has recruited Michael Thrasher as a reporter for its new publication, RIA Intel. He covers industry trends, M&A, regulatory changes and anything else advisors might be interested. Thrasher previously covered brokerages and RIAs for WealthManagement.com and Wealth Management magazine. Before that, he contributed to Forbes.
Hearst Newspapers has announced that Clarice Touhey has been named president of the Texas Community Group. She succeeds Mark Adkins wo is now the chairman of the group. In her new role, Touhey, will oversee the print and digital revenue operations for Hearst’s portfolio of community newspapers across the state. Previously, Touhey served as senior group publisher for Gatehouse Media where she was responsible for the operational, strategic and financial success of the company’s 13 publications in the Louisiana and North Texas regions.
Ben Lane has been named managing editor at HousingWire magazine. He was most recently the editor for RentWire, a HousingWire vertical, for less than a year and joined the staff in 2014 as a reporter. Before that Lane worked as a news reporter for TownSquareBuzz.com.
KBJR-TV, the NBC/CBS station for the Duluth, Minnesota to Superior, Wisconsin market, has named Anthony Matt as an evening co-anchor. He will co-anchor alongside Kristen Vake weeknights at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. He has been a reporter and fill-in anchor at the station since 2016, and before that worked for KBJR-TV as a reporter.
Emily Jaceks is now a producer at KVUE-TV, the ABC station at Austin, Texas. She was previously a reporter/anchor at KOB-TV in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for three years and before that spent a year at WAOW-TV in Wausau, Wisconsin.
