Refinery29 is already making big editorial moves under its new Vice Media ownership. The site has hired Gabrielle Korn as its director of fashion and culture, a new position at Refinery. She will begin in mid-November and will oversee the fashion editorial team, as well as expand the style and culture coverage. Korn was most recently the top editor at Nylon.
Chris Dixon, Vanity Fair’s creative director will leave the magazine Nov. 22 after eight years with the outlet. Dixon initially joined the publication as a design director quickly rising through the ranks to creative director. Prior to VF, he spent several years as the design director for New York magazine.
Digiday has recruited Kayleigh Barber as a reporter on the media industry beat. She comes from Folio magazine, where she spent the past year-and-a-half as an assistant editor reporting on breaking news from the media industry. Barber has also served as the editor in chief of Valley Magazine, Penn State’s student publication.
Forbes has announced the appointment of one editor and the promotion of a writer – both based in San Francisco -- who will help with coverage of Forbes’ Small Business unit:
Mike Fannin, editor and vice president of The Kansas City Star, has been named president of the news organization. He will lead The Star’s overall operations while continuing to oversee a newsroom. Fannin has been the editor of the paper since 2008 and has previously also served as managing editor and sports editor. He joined the paper in 1997.
The Associated Press has revamped its political podcast “Ground Game” hosted by Washington bureau chief Julie Pace. New episodes are available every Wednesday through the 2020 election. The podcast offers insights and observations as Pace speaks with newsmakers, reporters and editors about the top political stories of the week.
