The Cut has hired two new senior editors and a senior writer:
- Adrienne Green has joined as senior editor and oversees bigger projects across the site, focusing on culture and politics. She comes from The Atlantic, where she was managing editor and, prior to that, an assistant editor.
- Kerensa Cadenas has joined as senior editor and editors pop-culture coverage. She was previously at Entertainment Weekly, where she oversaw the movies section of the print magazine. She has also previously served as deputy editor at Complex magazine and has held positions at Bustle, Cosmopolitan, and Vanity Fair, and has freelanced for the Cut, Broadly, INTO, Esquire, and other publications.
- Sangeeta Singh-Kurtz is a new senior writer on the culture beat, writing about entertainment and the internet. She comes from Quartz, where she was a reporter covering culture, politics, and fashion.
Emma Fitzsimmons has been named City Hall bureau chief for The New York Times. She will lead the paper’s coverage of the end of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s tenure, the growing prominence and independence of the City Council, and the ramp-up to the mayoral election in 2021. Fitzsimmons was previously a transportation reporter on the Metro desk and joined the paper in 2009 reporting from Chicago. Prior to that, she reported for the Chicago Tribune.
The Washington Post has announced that Robyn Dixon will join the staff as Moscow bureau chief. She comes from the Beijing bureau of the Los Angeles Times, and has led the bureau as chief since mid-2018. She also spent almost 15 years as the Johannesburg bureau chief of the Los Angeles Times covering Sub-Saharan Africa.
Cheryl Brown is the new executive editor for Health magazine, covering a variety of health, food, beverage, fitness, fashion, beauty, and lifestyle topics. She was most recently the editor in chief of Family Circle and has been in the Meredith Corp family since 2011. Brown has also led the staff of Allrecipes magazine as editor in chief and Recipe.com and digital director.
FanSided, the fast-growing network of fans in sports, entertainment and lifestyle, has announced a content partnership with The Action Network, the premier sports betting information company. Each week FanSided will feature sports betting content and insights from The Action Network's experts – including articles, videos, and more – across all of FanSided's digital platforms. Additionally, The Action Network will be the exclusive live odds provider for FanSided.
Meredith Corporation will launch a new lifestyle magazine, Scott Brothers, with home renovation and interior design experts Drew and Jonathan Scott. Known for their dream big philosophy on life, the twin TV hosts of the popular HGTV series, Property Brothers, will infuse ideas and stories that inspire personal growth and happiness into every issue. The new magazine title will debut on newsstands nationwide in January 2020 with a cover price of $9.99 and an initial newsstand print run of 500,000. It will publish four times annually.
Gary Sharp is now the sports director and midday host at KOZN-AM in Omaha, Nebraska. He picked up the midday timeslot left vacant by Nick Bahe’s departure. Sharp has been with KOZN-AM since 2012 and before that worked at Fort Myers Miracle as a promotions manager.
