The Washington Post has announced the addition of several staff changes across multiple desks:
- Helena Andrews-Dyer will be joining the pop culture team when she returns from maternity leave in March. She will write news and features on movies, music, TV, celebrities, and more. Andrews-Dyer joined The Post in 2013 and before that worked as a contributing editor at xoJane.
- Eli Rosenberg has joined the Business desk to cover workers and the economy. He writes about how economic social forces, as well as the decisions of businesses and policymakers, are shaping the lives of workers. Rosenberg joined The Post in 2017 and has since worked on the General Assignment desk.
- Arelis Hernández has joined the National team as border correspondent, based in Texas. He works with the America desk’s immigration team, roving the U.S. southern border. Hernández has been with The Post since 2014 and before that spent four years at the Orlando Sentinel as breaking news reporter.
- Rana Ayyub has been named contributing writer to the Global Opinions section. She is based in Mumbai and writes about political affairs in India. Ayyub was previously an editor with Tehelka, an investigative magazine in India.
Liz Vaccariello has been named VP/editor in chief of Real Simple. She was previously the VP/editor in chief of Parents and will continue to serve as content director for multiple Meredith brands. She joined the company in 20016 after four years as the chief content officer and editor in chief of Reader’s Digest.
Replacing Viccariello as editor in chief of Parents is Julia Edelstein. She was previously the executive editor of the magazine and has been with Meredith since March 2016. Prior to that, Edelstein worked for Hearst as the health editor of Good Housekeeping and Real Simple at Time Inc before that.
WKYC-TV, the NBC station in Cleveland, Ohio, has hired Romney Smith as a reporter. She joins WKYC from WTOC in Savannah, Georgia, where she served as an Anchor/Investigative Reporter. Prior to that, she was a morning anchor/reporter for ActionNewsJax, the CBS/FOX duopoly in Jacksonville, Florida.
