Bloomberg News has hired Jason Grotto as senior reporter on the projects and investigations team. In his new role Grotto covers corruptions and breakdowns in both private and public institutes. He comes from ProPublica Illinois where he was a reporter specializing in municipal finance and quantitative analysis. He has also held posts at Chicago Tribune and the Miami Herald as a reporter.
The Wall Street Journal has announced a new hire, promotion and a beat change:
  • Gwynn Guilford has joined as an economics reporter covering the global economy. Most recently she was at Quartz as a reporter. Before joining Quartz, Guilford was a blogger for Andrew Sullivan's The Dish.
  • Shayndi Raice has been promoted to Midwest bureau chief of U.S. news. She has been promoted from her position as national reporter where she covered the economy and economic development in the American Heartland.
  • Nicole Friedman is now covering U.S. housing and economics. Previously, she was a  Berkshire Hathaway and insurance reporter covering Warren Buffett, Berkshire Hathaway and the property-casualty insurance and reinsurance industry.
David Callaway has started a new website covering climate change, Callaway Climate Insights. Most recently Callaway was the editor in chief of USA Today. Before that, he was editor in chief of MarketWatch for 13 years. He has also held posts at Bloomberg and the Boston Herald as a securities industry reporter and columnist, respectively.
WGCL-TV, the CBS affiliate in Atlanta has hired Matt King as the station's news director. He replaces Steve Doerr. King joins from WCNC-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he served as executive news director for five years. Before joining WCNC-TV, he was executive news director for WXIA-TV in Atlanta for three years.
Kristin Diaz has joined KRLD-AM, commercial station in Dallas, as afternoon drive news anchor. Most recently, Diaz served as a weekday morning news anchor for KIII-TV, the ABC affiliated in Corpus Christi, Texas, where she spent eight years. She has served as a weather anchor and morning reporter for the station.
