Associated Press has announced two promotions:
Yesica Fisch has been named the West Africa senior producer based in Dakar, Senegal. Fisch has been with the Associated Press since 2006 when she came on as a video journalist. Most recently, she held the role of senior producer and video journalist based in Brazil.
Cara Anna is the new East Africa correspondent based in Nairobi, Kenya. She was previously a deputy Africa editor and has been with the Associated Press for 15 years. She joined the news service as a correspondent in 2005.
Steven Santana has joined The San Antonio Business Journal as a digital producer. He joins from Cornerstone Publication where he wrote for three publications, The Castroville News Bulletin, Medina Valley Times and Leader News, as a general assignment reporter. He was promoted to news editor for the three community newspapers before transitioning to his new role.
Ryan Smith has joined Chicago Magazine as a reporter covering real estate via Chicago housing, built environment and gentrification issues. In his new role, Smith will write for the magazine’s website and weekly Friday newsletter regarding real estate. He replaces AJ LaTrace, who left in November.
Rowan Walrath has expanded her writing and now reports for Rhode Island Inno where she will cover startups and innovation in Rhode Island. Walrath will continue to write for BostInno, where she serves as an associate editor. Previously, Walrath was a freelancer and contributed to Mother Jones, WGBH and The Dorchester Reporter.
WRIF-FM, in Ferndale, Michigan, has promoted Jade Springart to assistant program director and midday host. She succeeds midday personality Anne Carlini who left in December 2019. Springart is promoted after 12 years at the station where she has held the roles of music director, program director and weekend on-air personality.
Monica Chavarria has been promoted to executive producer at KRIS-TV, the NBC affiliate in Corpus Christi, Texas. Most recently, she held the role of producer. Before she joined the station, she was a content brand manager for KZTV, a CBS affiliated in Corpus Christi, Texas
WTVQ-TV, the ABC affiliated in Lexington, Kentucky, has announced the addition of Lee Cruse and Hayley Harmon for the weekday show, “The Lee and Hayley Show.” Cruse and Harmon come back to TV after taking time off after their show “Live with Lee & Hayley” on WLEX-TV, an NBC affiliated in Lexington, Kentucky ended.
