Media Moves US,
The New York Times has made two staff moves at two of its bureaus, and has announced a new hire in New York:
Paulina Villegas Vargas has joined the Washington Post as a reporter covering breaking news and enterprise stories. She previously spent seven years at The New York Times as a reporter/researcher in Mexico City, and prior to that worked for Reporte Indigo as investigative reporter.
The Chicago Sun-Times has promoted Rachel Hinton to chief political reporter, replacing Tina Sfondeles who left in August. Hinton most recently covered Cook County government and joined the paper in 2017 as an intern.
NPR/National Public Radio has welcomed Aisha Harris as the fourth co-host of the "Pop Culture Happy Hour" podcast. She's joining Linda Holmes, Stephen Thompson, and Glen Weldon as the show prepares to go daily starting in October. The podcast will continue to give people a break from the news, Monday through Friday, while offering insightful recommendations about what to watch, read, and listen to. Harris comes from The New York Times, where at first, she was the assistant TV editor on the Culture Desk. In 2019, she moved to the Opinion Desk as culture editor.
Faye Chiu has been named editor for CNN newsletters and works on all newsletters across CNN Digital departments, including entertainment. She was previously a contracted editor for the science and wellness team at CNN Digital. Before that, Chiu served as the managing editor at Skift and has also held editorial roles at both Conde Nast and Time Inc.
Sal Palazzolo has joined WODE-FM radio in Allentown, Pennsylvania, as program director. He previously programmed modern rock sister station WWYY-FM, and prior to it simulcasting country WCTO-FM.
