Business Insider has added two new reporters:

  • Samantha Stokes has joined the staff as a professional services reporter covering consulting firms, accounting firms and more. She comes from The American Lawyer where she spent a year covering cover bankruptcy, law firm financials, politics, real estate, legal ethics and diversity issues.
  • Alexander Bitter has joined the staff as a reporter covering the world’s largest consumer companies, including PepsiCo, Nestlé, Coca-Cola, Unilever and more. He was previously at S&P Global Market Intelligence for three years and wrote breaking news and features on grocers, food retailers and fast-moving consumer products makers.

Rolling Stone has promoted Tim Chan to director of products and commerce. In this newly created role, he will lead the company's growing e-commerce vertical, while continuing to manage lifestyle and shopping coverage for the magazine. Chan was promoted a year after joining Rolling Stone as their first-ever lifestyle and market editor. He previously spent three years as the managing editor of the men's lifestyle site,

Kimbriell Kelly has been named Washington bureau chief at the Los Angeles Times, effective Nov. 4. She will succeed David Lauter, who will become senior Washington correspondent. Kelly joined the paper in 2012 as an investigative reporter and moved to Washington as deputy editor for enterprise and investigations in mid-2019. Since then, she has  edited the immigration coverage that led to the bureau’s first Pulitzer Prize in 17 years. Prior to the LA Times, Kelly worked for the Washington Post and the Chicago Reporter.

The Times Union in Albany, New York, has appointed two new managing editors:

  • Gary Hahn has been promoted to managing for features, sports and special publications. He was previous the senior editor for features at the paper.
  • Susan Mehalick has been promoted to managing editor for news. She was previously the deputy city editor and has been at the paper since 2005.

Meagan Fitzgerald has been named Chicago-based correspondent for NBC News and MSNBC. She was previously a weekend morning news anchor at WRC-TV, the NBC-owned station in Washington, D.C. She has previously worked for KUSA in Denver, and KTVE in El Dorado, Arkansas.

KABC-TV, the ABC affiliate in Los Angeles, has named Pamela K. Chen as VP and news director. She joined KABC in 2004 as a morning producer of the Eyewitness News 5 a.m. newscast, later transitioning to producing the evening newscast. She has also served as executive producer for four years and was named assistant news director in 2019.
