Crystal Martin has joined The Strategist, nymag.com's product review digital arm, as senior editor. She will focus on the site's beauty coverage. Martin has previously contributed beauty and style coverage to The New York Times, Shape, New York Magazine, The New York Post, Refinery 29, and others. She has also been an editor at Redbook, Women's Wear Daily, O, the Oprah Magazine, and Essence.
POLITICO has named Lorraine Woellert sustainability policy editor, overseeing all sustainability coverage including newsletters, Pro subscriber base, enterprise stories and more. Woellert has been at POLITICO since 2016 covering state and national politics and policy as the editor of the Florida chapter. Before that, she spent almost two decades at Bloomberg, including 11 years as a legal affairs correspondent at Businessweek.
Sukjong Hong has been named editor of Curbed, the real estate, architecture and design site which relaunched as part of New York magazine in October 2020. Hong spent the past three years at The Architect's Newspaper, most recently as the managing editor. Before that, she was a communications consultant for New York Immigration Coalition, and a reporter/researcher at The New Republic before that.
Bloomberg News has announced a promotion and a new hire:
Brent Murphree is now editor of Delta Farm Press, covering agriculture. He was most recently the content director for the West and Southwest regions at DFP and before that worked at Cotton Board as regional communications manager. In the early aughts, Murphee led Karmer Publications for seven years as the editor.
American Banker has promoted John Heltman to editor in chief. He has been with the publication since 2014 and has reported on the trends and issues related to the banking industry. Prior to that, Heltman covered commodity futures, derivatives markets, and the US energy policy for Argus Media.
WIVB-TV, the CBS station in Buffalo, New York, has hired Abby Fridmann as the weekend morning anchor. She replaces Shannon Smith, who recently left the station to join WOIO-TV in Cleveland, Ohio. Fridmann is a Buffalo-native and most recently anchored the weekend morning broadcast at WVNY/WFFF-TV in Burlington, Vermont.
Brent 'Dingo' Crank is the new afternoon host at WAMZ-FM (97.5) radio in Louisville, Kentucky. He will continue his duties as morning host at WDRM-FM in Huntsville, Alabaman, and will remain based there. Crank has been doing mornings on Country Radio for a decade and has been heard in Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Arizona, Indiana.
KCUB-AM (Wildcats Radio 1290), the flagship radio station of the University of Arizona, has named Rich Herrera program director and afternoon host. He was most recently a senior executive producer at KWFN -FM (97.3 The Fan) in San Diego. Herrera was first PD at Wildcats Radio when the station launched in 2001.
