T: The New York Times Style Magazine has hired Nick Haramis as editor at large and fashion features director, overseeing all fashion coverage. He will also write fashion profiles and features, as well as design and culture stories. He was most recently the editor in chief of Interview magazine and before that worked for The New York Times as articles editor and Bullet Magazine as editorial director.

Trea Lavery has joined ​​MassLive as a reporter covering Worcester county in Massachusetts. She joins the staff from the Lowell Sun in Lowell, Massachusetts and has previously also reported for Essex Media Group, the Boston Guardian, the Bay State Banner, and The Patriot Ledger.

The News-Press and Naples Daily News will welcome Nikki Ross as an education reporter later in June. She is currently wrapping up her duties at The Daytona Beach News-Journal, where she is a K-12 education, health, and COVID-19 reporter; her last day at The News-Journal is June 3. Ross has been at the paper since 2017.

Jodi M. Guglielmi has joined Rolling Stone magazine as breaking news editor. She previously spent seven years at People in a variety of editorial roles, most recently as a staff editor. Prior to that, Guglielmi was an editorial intern at the now-defunct Seventeen magazine.  

TIME magazine has announced two promotions:

  • Nik Popli is now a reporter at the Washington, D.C., bureau. He spent a year as a reporter-researcher at the magazine covering politics and business, and before that completed an internship at the UVA Center for Politics.
  • Andrew Chow is now a correspondent for TIME and covers entertainment, culture, tech and business. He also writes a weekly newsletter, "Into The Metaverse," on the ways in which our physical and digital selves are becoming increasingly blurred. He has been at the magazine since 2019 and before that spent four years at The New York Times.

Rachel Ventresca has joined Fortune as senior audience editor. She joins the magazine from Cheddar News, where she spent three years on the social media team as an editor and manager. Before that, Ventresca was an intern for NBC News and CNN Politics.

TechCrunch has announced several editorial staff updates:

  • Rebecca Szkutak has joined the staff as a senior writer covering venture capital and startups for TechCrunch+. Prior to that, she was a venture capital reporter at Forbes, where she also co-authored the Deal Flow newsletter. Before that, Szkutak worked for PEI – Alternative Insight and American Inno.
  • Senior reporter Natasha Mascarenhas now covers fintech and how money blends with culture, economic empowerment and access. She has been at TechCrunch since 2020 and since then has covered venture capital and startups. Before that, Mascarenhas worked for Crunchbase News.
  • Dominic-Madori Davis has joined TechCrunch as a senior reporter covering startups and venture capital. She comes from Business Insider, where she was a reported for almost three years.

Ryan Deffenbaugh has joined Protocol as fintech reporter covering fintech startups and other news. He spent the past three years at Crain's New York Business as a tech reporter, where he covered people, politics and money in New York City's technology industry. Before that, Deffenbaugh was a reporter at Westfair Business Publications.

The Salt Lake Tribune has hired Leto Sapunar as a reporter covering business, sustainability, and accountability. He joins the staff via Report for America. Sapunar was most recently a freelance science journalist and his bylines have appeared in Scientific American, Medscape Medical News, Retraction Watch, The Corvallis Advocate, and other publications.

John Bringardner, the managing editor of Debtwire, has expanded his role and is now also an executive editor of leveraged capital markets, overseeing journalists and analysts across Debtwire, Xtract and Creditflux. In addition, he will continue to work with the product and client teams across ION Analytics. Bringardner has been the managing editor for Emerging Markets at Debtwire for the past two years, and before joining the staff in 2014 he reported for Standard & Poor's and Law.com.

Bloomberg Tax has tapped Heather Rothman as a news director overseeing all non-news analysis and content. She comes to Bloomberg Tax from Bloomberg Government, where she has been a news director for the past five years managing reporters, editors, and analysts, and directing political and election-related news coverage. Rothman has been with Bloomberg since 2001.

Maddy Wierus has joined the Chicago bureau of CBS News as a digital journalist and associate producer. She’ll work with correspondent Adriana Diaz covering the Midwest and beyond. Wierus most recently worked as morning news anchor and reporter for KTAL, the NBC affiliate in Shreveport, Louisiana. Before that she was a news anchor at KXLT, the Fox affiliate in Rochester, Minnesota, and a producer at WNDU, the NBC affiliate in South Bend, Indiana.

NewsNation has hired Chris Stirewalt as political editor. He is the former Fox News political analyst pushed out after the 2020 presidential election. Since departing Fox News, Stirewalt has been a contributor to the newsletter the Dispatch and appeared as a guest analyst on NewsNation.

WBTS-TV, the NBC station in Boston, has welcomed Cory Smith as an anchor and investigative reporter. He joins the station from sister NBC outlet WRC-TV in Washington, D.C., where he was a news reporter since October 2018. Prior to that, Smith was an anchor/reporter for KXAS-TV in Dallas.

Trill Gates has re-joined KYUR-KTBY-TV, the Fox and ABC stations in Anchorage, Alaska, as an anchor. She used to work for the stations as an interim news director and anchor before leaving in 2011 to work for the Anchorage School District. Gates started her career in 1991 as the host and producer of the Fox 4 Kids Club children’s show on KTBY.
