Media Moves at the Boston Globe & Wired, Billboard Hires an Investigative Reporter
Jim Puzzanghera has joined the Boston Globe as Washington bureau chief. He most recently wrote about business and economics for the Los Angeles Times and spent 13 years at the paper. Before that, he reported for the San Jose Mercury News for 11 years, eight of which as Washington bureau chief. Puzzanghera has also worked for Newsday and The St. Petersburg Times.
The Washington Post has named Faiz Siddiqui as technology reporter covering automation and future of transportation. He will focus on tech companies like Uber, Waymo, and Tesla, and their impact on the way the public drives. He will also focus on the economic effects of advances in automation and robotics in factories, hospitals, offices and retail establishments, and their impact on employment and the economy. Siddiqui joined The Post as an intern in 2015, and most recently covered transportation for the Local section on the Metro desk.
Claudia Rosenbaum is the new investigative reporter for Billboard out of Los Angeles. She comes from BuzzFeed where she spent four years as entertainment news reporter. Prior to that, Rosenbaum was a legal and justice editor for E! and a senior reporter for US Weekly.
Wired has recruited Daniel Oberhaus as a staff writer covering new space, machine learning and technology. He most recently served as a news editor at Motherboard, and before that spent a year as a staff writer at VICE. Oberhaus has also contributed to The Atlantic, Popular Mechanics, Slate, The Baffler, Nautilus, Vice, The Awl, The Outline and Supercluster.
Imtiaz Tyab has joined CBS News as a London-based correspondent. He most recently worked for Al Jazeera English based in Washington, D.C., and before that spent six years at BBC News. Ian Lee, who previously spent eight years at CNN, has also joined CBS News’s London office as a correspondent with Newspath, CBS News and CBSN.
The Washington Business Journal has hired Carten Cordell as FedBiz reporter. He comes from FedScoop, where he was senior technology reporter covering federal agency acquisition, IT and cybersecurity issues. Before that, he worked at Federal Times as a senior staff reporter.
Arthur Mondale has joined NBC-owned WPTV-TV in West Palm Beach, Florida, as a reporter. He appears on the 4,5 and 6 p.m. newscasts. He comes from Washington D.C., where he was an internal broadcaster for the National Guard. Prior to that, he worked at WXII-TV in Greensboro, N.C. and WNCT-TV in Greenville, N.C.
WTKR-TV, the CBS-affiliated station in Norfolk, Virginia, has brought on Kofo Lasaki as a reporter. She previously spent four years a multimedia journalist at WNDU-TV in South Bend, Indiana, where she was responsible for morning live reports on stories ranging from overnight breaking news to community interest events. Before that, Lasaki was an intern at WTTG-TV in Washington, D.C.
Kris Abrams has returned to Cumulus Media as the operations manager for five Albuquerque, New Mexico, FM stations KBZU-FM, KDRF-FM, KKOB-FM, KMGA-FM, and KRST-FM, as well as the program director for KKOB-FM and KMGA-FM. He previously served as director of partner success at Cleveland-based Futuri Media since March of 2016.
