Media Moves at NPR & CNBC, The Wall Street Journal Adds Political Reporters

Current McClatchy Newspapers Washington correspondent, Franco Ordoñez, will join NPR as a White House correspondent on June 3. He has been with McClatchy since 2011, and was previously a reporter for The Charlotte Observer.  

CNBC in San Francisco will be welcoming Jennifer Elias later in the month as a tech reporter. She will focus on the conglomerate Alphabet, Inc., specifically its finances. Jennifer comes from the Silicon Valley Business Journal, where she covered publicly traded technology companies in Silicon Valley, executive moves, and diversity.  

Teen VOGUE has named Tahirah Hairston as fashion and beauty features director. She comes from Lenny Letter, where she was deputy editor. Hairston is familiar with fashion publications, having worked as a freelance editorial producer for VOGUE, and a fashion assistant for Seventeen Magazine. Also new to the team is Christine Davitt, who comes on as senior social media manager. In the past, she has overseen social media for New York Magazine and Vanity Fair.  

As two join Teen VOGUE, Jessica Andrews departs the magazine for a position as deputy fashion director at Refinery29. In her previous position with Teen VOGUE she was fashion features editor. Andrews has also covered fashion topicss for Vanity Fair and Essence Magazine. 

The Wall Street Journal has added several reporters at different bureaus: 

  •  John D. McCormick will move to the paper’s Chicago bureau as a national political reporter. He comes from Bloomberg News, where he was a Chicago-based reporter. Prior to that, he was with the Chicago Tribune as a reporter.  
  • Tarini Parti is now part of the Washington, D.C. bureau, covering national politics, the 2020 presidential campaign, and elections as a reporter. Parti comes to the paper from Buzzfeed, where she started as a political reporter, and was most recently a White House correspondent.  
  • Current Associated Press White House reporter, Catherine Lucey, will also join the Washington, D.C. bureau as a White House reporter. Before starting at AP in 2013, Lucey was a reporter with the Philadelphia Daily News, first covering crime and politics, before moving on to city hall coverage.  

Georgia-based Entercom station, WSTR-FM, welcomes Mike Kannon as on-air talent and assistant program director. He comes from Colorado station KYGO-FM, where he was an on-air personality.  Kannon has also been on air at iHeartMedia’s KDMX-FM and CBS Radio’s WRDW-FM. 

Thomas Tobin has joined New York station, WPIX-TV, as senior executive producer. He comes from Washington, D.C., where he was an executive producer for WJLA-TV. Tobin’s first run in New York was with WABC-TV as assistant news director for the station.
