Media Moves at The Information & Business Insider, CNBC Make It Hires Deputy Managing Editor

Alex Heath has joined The Information as a reporter to cover Facebook and Alphabet. He comes from Cheddar where he spent the last two years reporting on big industry news and big companies like Snap and Facebook. He is also a recipient of a SABEW award for best young business journalist under 30. Heath has also worked for Business Insider and CultofMac.com.

CNBC Make It has hired Lindsey Stanberry as deputy managing editor, a newly created position. She works across CNBC Make It to create new editorial series and develop content plans and strategies, as well as manage the site’s Money section. Stanberry was previously at Refinery29 for six years, most recently as the director of the Work and Money vertical.

Chris Berend has joined NBC News as senior vice president of global video and will lead all digital efforts. He replaces Nick Ascheim, who has moved into a new role at NBC News Group. Berend was most recently an executive for CNN overseeing digital video, and helped launch Great Big Story in 2015, a streaming-video site geared toward younger audiences.

The Wall Street Journal in Detroit has welcomed Ben Foldy as automotive reporter. He was most recently with Bloomberg News where he was a reporting intern and covered finance and oil markets. Foldy has also interned for the Financial Times and is a recent graduate of CUNY.

Business Insider has hired two new staff in leadership positions:

·         Julia Hood has joined the staff as the head of special projects and will develop brand building editorial packages, series, lists, events and more. She comes from Haymarket Media where she spent 17 years, most recently as EVP and chief content officer. She was also the editor in chief of PR Week from 2002 through 2008.

·         Drake Baer has rejoined Business Insider as deputy editor of strategy. He was most recently director of content at the NeuroLeadership Institute, and before that had a brief stint at Throve Global as senior writer. Baer was a strategy reporter for Business Insider from 2014 through 2016.

Longtime 60 Minutes correspondent, Steve Kroft, has retired after 30 seasons with the show and 50 years in broadcast television. He joined CBS News in 1980 and became part of 60 Minutes in 1989. During his tenure Kroft has had many career highlights, including the interview with Bill and Hillary Clinton in 1992, and a sit-down with President-elect Barack Obama in 2008. During his early years at CBS News, Kroft has covered the civil war in El Salvador and the invasion of Grenada. He also worked for CBS’ London Bureau, where he reported on European affairs and terrorism for CBS Evening News.

Jessica Boyington is the new weekend anchor for ABC’s WPVI-TV in Philadelphia, presenting the Weekend Happenings segment. She comes from NBC News where she was a traffic reporter since 2015, and before that worked as a traffic reporter for CBS-3 in Philadelphia for three years.

WGN-AM radio in Chicago has promoted Mary Sandberg Boyle to director of news and operations, upped from producer of the “Steve Cochran Show.”  She has been with WGN-AM since 2015 and before that worked as executive producer and director for communications at Tribune Media.
