Media Moves at Washington Post & The Wall Street Journal, Travel + Leisure Brings on Senior Digital Editor

Steve Kolowich has become a full-time editor at the Washington Post on the Style/GA team.  He has been a contract assignment editor in Features since January 2018, and before that worked for the Chronicle of Higher Education for six years as a feature writer covering college campuses. Kolowich has also worked at Inside Higher Ed and has freelanced for Slate, Deadspin and Washington City Paper.

The Wall Street Journal has hired Kevin Poulsen as a reporter on the Investigations Team, covering the election interference and digital chicanery. He is based in San Francisco. Poulsen was previously with the Daily Beast for three years, and before that spent several years at Wired in various positions including senior editor and investigations editor.

Alisha Prakash is the new senior digital editor for Travel + Leisure. She was previously a senior editor for the SmarterTravel Network and has also spent more than ten years freelancing for publications like Time Out New York, Thrillist, and Today.com.

WXIX-TV, the Fox-affiliate in Cincinnati, Ohio, has welcomed Chris Riva as an anchor-reporter on the newly launched early evening news broadcast airing weekdays 5-6:30 p.m. He is a former WCPO-TV morning anchor and has also previously worked as an anchor of KCRA-TV in Sacramento, California for almost a decade.

Ryan Houston is the new reporter/ anchor for WPXI-TV, the NBC station in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He previously spent almost three years at WCPO-TV in Cincinnati, Ohio, as an anchor and has also reported for WAPT-TV in Jackson, Mississippi.

WXBM-FM radio in Pensacola, Florida, has added Adam ‘Kash” Kashner as program director. He comes from WFMS-FM in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he most recently served as an APD. Kashner had been on staff since 2012 when he joined as a part-time promotions coordinator and climbed through the ranks in to programming.

Frances ‘Skip’ Echeverria has joined Cumulus Media news/talk KMJ-FM/AM as afternoon co-host. She joins Philip Teresi in the 2-6 p.m. timeslot. She was previously the morning host at KFRR-FM rock station in Fresno, California for almost a decade.
