Business Insider has welcomed three new hires:
Mark Abadi has been named editor of the “Business Insider Today” show. In his new role, Abadi will copyedit each episode and write stories that will accompany every segment. Most recently, he was the editor of freelance content for Business Insider.
Jake Lahut has joined as a politics reporter. Most recently, he was a political reporter for The Keene Sentinel. Prior to that, he was a breaking news reporter for The Daily Gazette. Lahut has also held the role of breaking news intern and White House intern at Politico.
Andrew Dunn has come on as a healthcare reporter covering biotech and pharmaceutical industries. Dunn joins from BioPharma Dive where he was a reporter and prior to that an associate editor. Before BioPharma Dive he interned for multiple publications such as Balitmore Sun, Tampa Bay Times and CNN.
Alex Hoyt has been named article editor for GQ. Most recently, he was the editor in chief of The National, an Amtrak magazine. Before that he held the role of executive editor for the magazine and prior to that senior editor for United Airlines Rhapsody.
ELLE has tapped fashion industry veteran Alexandra White as fashion director. In her new role, White will style covers and editorial shoots while also covering the luxury fashion market. She succeeds Joann Pailey who left the magazine to join Altuzarra as head of content and marketing. White comes from Porter Magazine, where she served as the fashion director. Prior to that, she spent 16 years at W magazine.
Laura Motta has joined The Points Guy as an editorial director. She comes from ShermansTravel where she spent eight years. She began as director of Deals Publishing and then director of publishing with her most recent role being head of editorial and content. In her new role, Motta will help run the newsroom.
Danny Heitman has been named editor of Phi Kappa Phi Forum, a national academic honor society based in Louisiana. Heitman comes from The BR Advocate where he spent 33 years. Most recently, he was the editorial page editor since 2004.
Chelsea Diana at the Albany Business Review has changed beats to cover state government and money. She previously covered technology and money for five-and-a-half years. Diana has been with the outlet as a reporter since 2014. Prior to that, she was a news intern for The Portland Press Herald and before that a Statehouse correspondent for the Lowell Sun.
WMLD-FM radio in Macomb, Illinois, has named Bill Schmalfeldt morning show host of “AM Macomb.” In addition to the morning show, he will host “PM Macomb” on weekdays. He comes from WATW in Wisconsin where he was a morning show host and a local news reporter for the Ashland stations.
WDCW-TV, the CW affiliate in Washington, D.C., has named Andrew Wyatt vice president and general manager. Most recently, he held the role of vice president and general manager of WDVM-TV in Maryland. Prior to that, he served as vice president and general manager of WFXG-TV in Augusta, Georgia.
