Media Moves at Bloomberg Government & Skift, The New York Times Hires a Finance Editor

Bloomberg Government has announced a beat change for senior reporter Shaun Courtney, who will now cover The Department of Homeland Security. She most recently covered federal transportation where she focused on policy developments on planes, trains and automobiles while also tracking legislative developments. She has been with Bloomberg for more than two years, and in the past had served as an investigative reporting intern for The Washington Post.
 
The Wall Street Journal has announced a beat change and the following hires:
 
  • Anna Hirtenstein has joined as a markets and global politics reporter based in London. She previously worked for Bloomberg LP as a reporter based in London covering clean energy and sustainability in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
  • Julia Verlaine has moved from the Brussels bureau to the New York City bureau, where she will now cover the US financial markets. She most recently covered regulation in the European Union and financial markets in Brussels. Previously, Verlaine served as a correspondent for Bloomberg News based in London covering the investment banking sector.
  • Ann-Marie Alcantara has joined as a reporter. She comes from Adweek where she served as a retail reporter for more than two years covering eCommerce and digital native vertical brands. Prior to that, Alcantara worked for PopSugar first as an assistant tech editor and then as an assistant news editor, and finally as a news and culture editor. She has also worked for BuzzFeed, Mashable and The Bold Italic.
 
The New York Times has tapped Anupreeta Das as a finance editor. She most recently spent nearly a decade with The Wall Street Journal in various roles ranging from  mergers and acquisitions reporter to, most recently, deputy business editor. Prior to joining The Journal, Das spent more than three years as a correspondent for Reuters covering mergers and acquisitions in the technology, media and telecommunications sectors.
 
Cameron Sperance has joined Skift as a hospitality reporter. He most recently spent more than three years as a Boston-based reporter for Bisnow, covering Boston area commercial real estate and business news. Sperance has also freelanced and is author of the Boston guidebook for Moon Travel Guides.
 
WBAM-FM radio in Montgomery, Alabama, has announced two additions to create a new morning show.
 
  • LeAnne Thompson joins as a morning co-host alongside her husband Jamie "JT" Thompson to form the "Bama Country Morning Show". The Thompsons are no strangers to the airwaves, having been together on radio for more than 15 years. The duo most recently spent more than 13 years as morning show hosts for the "Married With Microphones" program that aired on WMXS-FM in Montgomery, Alabama.
