The Chronicle of Higher Education has recruited Danielle McLean as a staff writer covering federal education policies and their impact on people. She starts at the end of October. McLean is currently an investigative reporter for ThinkProgress and before that worked for BDN Maine as investigative reporter for the Metro Department and the Maine Focus team.
Mario Abad is the new fashion reporter at Paper Magazine. He oversees the outlet’s digital fashion coverage and writes stories encompassing brands, designers, models and the fashion industry in general. Abad has previously covered fashion as a freelance write and has contributed to Robb Report, Forbes and Men’s Health.
Barron’s has launched “Barron’s Roundtable,” a weekly prime-time TV show featuring the outlet’s columnists and financial thinkers commenting on the week ahead on Wall Street. The show airs Friday nights at 10 p.m. ET on Fox Business and offers commentary, ideas and reporting. The program is hosted by Barron’s editor et large Jack Otter and will also feature Jack Hough, senior editor of Barron’s, providing behind the scenes stories from the most recent issues of the publication, as well as a preview of his Streetwise investing column.
Texas Lawyer has hired Ken Artz as Texas bureau chief responsible for overseeing the Texas Lawyer brand both online and in print, including writing articles, managing the website, monitoring web traffic and gathering feedback and intelligence from readers in Texas. Artz has more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit organizations, publishing, newspaper reporting, and public policy advocacy. He's held positions as a newspaper reporter for several small-town newspapers in Texas, as a writer/editor for the National Center for Policy Analysis, and as a writer for Heartland Institute newspapers.
WHYI-FM radio in Fort Lauderdale/Miami has announced a series of programming appointments that have revamped the station’s on-air lineup:
· Drew Heyman has been promoted to music director and afternoon host. Heyman takes the afternoon slot after most recently serving as the station’s evening host.
· Brooke Morrison has joined WHYI as midday host replacing Michelle Fay. She was most recently hosting middays at sister station WHQC-FM in Charlotte, North Carolina.
· Imari Mora is the new late night and weekend host. She comes from KROX-FM in Austin, Texas, where she served as morning show producer and promotions coordinator.
Rick Boone has been tapped by KOVR-TV, the CBS station in Sacramento, California. He is a general assignment reporter. Boone was most recently the news director for WNKY-TV in Kentucky and has previously reported for several stations including KNTV-TV in the Bay Area, WPIX-TV in New York, and WTTG-TV in Washington, D.C.
