The Los Angeles Times has hired Maya Lau to cover the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Lau comes to the LA Times from The Advocate in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she worked as an investigative reporter covering crime. She has also worked for The Times in Shreveport, Louisiana as a crime reporter and for The New York Times as a contributor and news assistant. Follow the LA Times on Twitter.
