As we enter the summer months, in-person events continue transitioning to digital formats to ensure the safety of attendees and presenters.

If instead of covering a digital event, you're looking to attend one to develop your skills in data journalism, blogging, or pitching, there are several learning opportunities throughout the month of June that you can fit into your schedule.

Anytime: Learn Data Journalism

The European Journalism Centre offers these free resources to data journalists looking to hone their craft. With the amount of new data being sent out daily, this is a critical skill for journalists. Members receive access to free resources, materials, online video courses, and community forums. The initiative, supported by Google News Initiative, launched in 2010. Courses include "Cleaning Data in Excel," "Mistakes We've Made So You Don't Have To: Data Visualization, Journalism, and the Web," and "Verification: The Basics."

Multiple Dates: Freelancer Learning Panels

These Sunday panels are hosted by NYT's Smarter Living Editor, Tim Herrera. The June sessions will cover travel writing, non-news freelance writing, advice and tips for improving your writing, sessions for students/early-career journalists, and more. Fit these informative panels into your Sunday schedule.

Multiple Dates: Mediavine - Summer of Live

Mediavine's 2020 conference in Baltimore was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns, but the company is still hosting its third annual Summer of Live, a weekly series of Facebook Live presentations. The June events will cover topics like "Transforming Your Blog Into a Business Bigger Than Yourself," "How to Turn 1 Blog Post into 15 Pieces of Content," and more.

June 6-13: Her Conference

With a focus on content creation and entrepreneurship, Her Conference will bring together women in college, recent grads, and influencers for panels and keynotes. Sessions will cover entertainment and broadcast journalism, podcasting, social media, and more.

June 10: Trusting News Webinar Series

Trusting News founder and director Joy Mayer leads this series of five free webinars. The course is designed for journalists and editors looking to address mistrust in the media. Attendees will learn to actively earn readers' trust by implementing tools and strategies to build transparency and help readers understand the news overall. The first four webinars were created over the last few years and the newest one, posted on June 10, will focus on soliciting feedback from your community.

June 11-12: Publishing Insider Summit

The annual Publishing Insider Summit is going virtual in 2020. The summit will look at the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the publishing industry. Topics will cover the updates to business models, ad revenues, and future business outlooks, among others. The lineup includes speakers from Meredith, Condé Nast, Variety, and more.

June 22-30: Global Fact 7

The annual fact-checking conference is moving to a virtual format this year. Because of it, the conference has expanded to feature 150 speakers over seven days. The public track runs June 22-26 and is cost-free. The sessions include "How platforms are addressing the mis-disinformation during the pandemic?" and "Fact-checking in school: Best practices from around the world." A private track for fact-checkers will take place June 29-30. Attend sessions like "Telling Stories with Data" and "SEO: The Key to Finding and Sharing Fact-Checks Online."

June 26: #BlogHer Creators Summit

This free digital event is open to women creators and entrepreneurs. The event will include virtual programming with interactive sessions, panel discussions, inspiring talks, and advice from leading experts to help women build and adapt their businesses. "Hone in on your marketing strategies, become an expert in your craft, and bring home the resources needed for your digital presence to flourish."
