Jeff Chew operates as a one-man bureau from the eastern side of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state. He covers local news such as police, courts, government and people in Port Townsend and throughout Jefferson County for the newspaper. He says, “Just by the virtue of the way things go here, probably 80 to 90 percent of our coverage is hard news.” He does write some feature pieces, but stories must be local to be considered. Pitch him by e-mail. Chew says, “Make it complete, with a name and a phone number attached to it.” The best time to reach him is either late morning or early afternoon.
The Peninsula Daily News provides local and regional coverage of the Olympic Peninsula and has a daily circulation of approximately 16,000. The Jefferson County bureau covers Port Townsend and Jefferson County for the zoned editions of the paper.
