Power PR With True Measurement Learn How

3 SEO Blogs to follow

For those of us in marketing and PR, keeping up on the latest in search engine optimization isn’t easy. Even though it may only account for a small part of my day-to-day responsibilities, I’m beginning to think it’s a full time job. Did you know that Google makes updates to its algorithm 500-600 times each year? I mean, who has time to keep up with that?

Rather than try to read everything that crosses my radar via the alerts that I’ve set up for SEO, Social Content Optimization (SCO), and Panda Updates (which I have only had time to skim recently), I’ve started to rely on the full time “SEO-ers” to tell me what to pay attention to in the world of search.

If SEO is important in your role, here are some blogs that you might want to add to your daily reading list:

 1)      SEOMoz

Being the visual learner that I am, there is nothing that I look forward to more than Whiteboard Fridays: a video blog post with Rand Fishkin succinctly explaining some new update to SEO using a diagram on his whiteboard. His explanation of how the Panda Update changed SEO lit up the light bulb in my brain.

You might also want to check out SEOmoz’s living timeline of Google Updates that came out this week.

2)      Search Engine Land

Not only does Search Engine Land put out a ton of great content, but they have a whole page dedicated to the fundamentals of SEO with links to the most popular search-related posts. Just getting your feet wet in the world of Search Marketing? This is a great place to dive in head first.

3)      Conversation Marketing

For those of you who like to just focus on search engine optimization as it relates to Marketing, Conversation Marketing is the blog for you. Ian Lurie put out a great post last week about how good old fashioned SEO is no longer enough in the world of Content Marketing. Ian also convinced me that all SEOs should learn to program at some point – you know, between my full time jobs of mother and Product Marketer.
