How do use social media at your job?
“Social media has become an integral part of what we do every day at the Burlington Times-News. We use Twitter and Facebook to reach out to our audience by supplying updated stories, asking questions and using polls. We try to engage users by posting regularly on both platforms. Social media also provides our staff with ongoing news and information quickly. By following news sources and people in our community, we find stories we need to do more quickly and land more direct routes to sources.”
Which platforms do you like best?
“Difficult question. Twitter is invaluable for breaking news and finding out information quickly. But Facebook allows for more thorough engagement and is a quicker route to customer service issues. Overall, I find I like Facebook better because it has greater visual capabilities and more areas for conversation.”
