Several changes are coming to the Los Angeles Times newsroom. Veteran food editor Russ Parsons will step down from the editor role to put more focus on his food columns. Parsons has been with the Times more than 20 years and has written about food for even longer. Taking his place will be Amy Scattergood, who has served as deputy food editor since late 2014. She was previously the food editor for LA Weekly. Joining the LA Times in March is Mariel Garza, who will serve as editorial writer. Garza most recently served as deputy editorial editor for The Sacramento Bee, following a long tenure with the editorial department at Los Angeles News Group and the (Los Angeles) Daily News. Follow the Los Angeles Times’ food staffers on the food Twitter, and also follow the opinion department on its Twitter for more.
