Layoffs At Bloomberg in New York
More than 50 employees were laid-off at Bloomberg News earlier this week. The Washington, D.C. newsroom and sports desk experienced the most cuts, although less than expected from estimates reported earlier this month. The New York headquarters also experienced many layoffs. On the editing side of the New York headquarters staff, those leaving Bloomberg this week include: managing editor for sports Jay Beberman; news editor Joe Sabo; editor Karen Goldfarb; and managing editor for government teams Carolynn Fedor.
Layoffs among New York reporters include: sports reporter Eric Matuszewski; sports business reporter Scott Sochnick; sports reporter Mason Levinson; telecom reporter Melissa Kawai; and sports business reporter Eben Novy-Williams.
Sports team leader Michael Sillup and multimedia producer Maureen Damiar, were also among the cuts.
Callie Bost, former U.S. stocks reporter on the New York team, voluntarily exited Bloomberg this week for a job outside the journalism world.

Well, Bloomberg shredded its sports dept. today and I'm among the casualties. Spent the day thinking of all the friends I've made. #thankful
