USA Today Names New Top Editor
Joanne Lipman is the new editor in chief of USA Today, the paper has announced. She replaces David Callaway, who left the daily in June 2016. Lipman will also maintain her existing position as chief content officer for Gannett’s USA Today Network, a role she took at the end of 2015. Prior to that, she was the founding editor of Conde Nast Portfolio. Lipman began her journalism career as a reporter at The Wall Street Journal and ultimately took the deputy managing editor position. She went on to win three Pulitzer Prizes. Correction: the original post stated Lipman was the first woman to hold the top editorial position at USA Today. This milestone was achieved by Karen Jurgensen in 1999.
