CisionScoopGina Tomaine joined Philadelphia magazine as deputy lifestyle editor. She comes from Rodale’s Organic Life, where she was associate deputy editor since June 2016. She has worked as a freelance writer for several years, contributing to several national Rodale publications and regional outlets in Philadelphia.

CisionScoop: Artsy hired Nate Freeman as a senior reporter covering art markets in New York and around the world. He was previously a senior staff writer for ARTnews, and has also written for New York Daily News and Observer. Artsy is an online resource for art collectors, providing relevant news and connecting buyers to works of art from around the world.

The Wall Street Journal made several appointments to its Off Duty section focusing on fashion coverage:

  • Rory Satran joins as fashion director from VICE Media’s i-D magazine, where she worked as editorial director since 2014. She was previously managing editor of Self Service magazine in Paris, and has written about fashion for several leading publications.
  • Rebecca Malinsky was named deputy fashion director, up from fashion markets director. Malinsky held prior positions at Glamour, Niche Media, GQ and Lucky.
  • Men’s fashion editor Jacob Gallagher has expanded his role and now writes a weekly column called On Trend. He has previously written for GQ, Esquire and The Awl.

ABC News said goodbye to Dan Childs, managing editor of the medical unit since 2012. He has joined the pharmaceutical and life sciences company, Bayer, as director of external communications. During his tenure at ABC, Childs earned an Emmy and shared two George Peabody awards. His coverage included 2014’s Ebola outbreak, 2015’s Zika epidemic, the Affordable Care Act and America’s opioid crisis.

Jack Nicas has been named technology reporter at The New York Times, based in San Francisco and covering Apple and Silicon Valley. Nicas joins from The Wall Street Journal, where he most recently covered Google. He got his start at WSJ as a reporter in its Chicago bureau covering Midwestern news and politics before switching to the aviation beat.

The Washington Post moved political correspondent Karen Tumulty  to its opinions section; she now writes a reported column on national politics. Tumulty joined the paper in 2010 from TIME, where she spent more than 15 years covering national politics, the White House and Congress.

Theater and dance critic Hedy Weiss parted ways with the Chicago Sun-Times after 34 years on staff. She will continue in her role as theater critic for WTTW-TV’s Chicago Tonight, which she has held since 2002.
