CisionScoop: Christa Sgobba has joined Runner's World and Bicycling Magazine as senior editor. She previously spent seven years at Men's Health, working in a variety of positions including associate editor, assistant editor, and most recently senior associate editor.
The New York Times Opinion pages have brought on Kara Swisher as a contributor lending her commentary on technology issues. Swisher is also editor at large for ReCode, where she also hosts the podcast Re/Code Decode. She was previously an executive editor for AllThingsD, and has reported for The Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post.
Stefani C. O’Connor has been named editor in chief of Hotel Management magazine under the Questex Hospitality Group. She will lead the editorial strategy and team behind the magazine - both in print and online - including the brand’s suite of online newsletters, digital editions, eBooks, special reports, surveys, roundtables and top lists. Most recently, O’Connor served as executive news editor at Hotel Business magazine, as well as managing editor of the magazine's National Executive Roundtable Series.
Cision Blog regrets to inform its readers that Award-winning San Diego Union-Tribune reporter Bruce V. Bigelow has passed away. He was a veteran business reporter and editor who had been with the paper since 1990, and was part of the 2006 Pulitzer Prize-winning team for national reporting. Prior to the Union-Tribune, he had worked for the Associated Press.
Stephanie Forshee is the newest reporter at Agenda covering executive compensation. She was previously a staff reporter for Corporate Counsel, and before that served as the editor In Other News. Agenda is a print magazine that provides intelligence about what's happening in other corporate boardrooms.
The State Journal-Register in Springfield, Illinois, has hired Brenden Moore as business reporter, also reporting on education and crime in the Illinois state capital. He was previously a freelance reporter at 22nd Century Media in Chicago, where he covered the school beard beat.
After nearly 4000 episodes and 27 seasons, The Jerry Spring Show, has stopped producing new shows.The show will continue to air into 2019, but it will all be reruns. The topical show featured discussions of social relevance, and host Jerry Springer engaged guests and his audience in discussion about sensational issues and interpersonal relationships.
KPHO-TV, the CBS affiliate for the Phoenix market, and its sister station KTVK-TV, have hired Kim Powell as news reporter. She comes from WINK-TV in Fort Myers, Florida, where she spent the last three years as news reporter. Prior to that, she worked for KWES-TV in Odessa, Texas and KTNV-TV in Las Vegas.
Charly Edsitty has joined KTRK-TV, the ABC owned-and-operated television station in Houston, Texas, as a reporter and multimedia journalist covering regional and local news around Houston. She was previously a multimedia journalist at KPNX-TV in Phoenix, Arizona.
The news team of WPMT-TV, the Fox affiliate in York, Pennsylvania, has welcomed Bryanna Gallagher as reporter. She was previously the weekday evening news anchor/producer for Northwest Broadcasting’s WICZ-TV in Binghamton, New York. She’s a Temple grad who also interned in Philadelphia and New Jersey radio news.
HuffPost's global head of video, Shelley Venus, has left the outlet to join Facebook later in July. She was with HuffPost for a little more than a year, and prior to that served as head of video and executive producer at Mic.
