CisionScoop: Mario Marroquin has joined Latin Finance magazine as a reporter covering financial transactions, economic development, executive moves, infrastructure and P3s in Latin America and the Caribbean. He is also a contributing writer for Jersey Digs, covering real estate in New Jersey. He has also previously reported for NJBIZ.
The New York Times Washington bureau welcomes back Richard Stevenson as enterprise editor. He is a former D.C. bureau chief, and in recent years has worked for the NYT in Paris, London and New York. Stevenson is a veteran NYT reporter and has has been with the paper for more than three decades.
Sue Morrow has been named editor of News Photographer magazine. She succeeds Tom Burton, who left the National Press Photographers Association for a Knight Fellowship at Ohio University. Morrow is a veteran photo editor, designer and filmmaker, who has previously taught journalism at Ohio University and has also worked for the Sacramento Bee as assistant director of multimedia.
Reuters has appointed Ken Li as U.S. media and telecoms editor. He starts August 20. Li will lead reporting on how U.S. media and telecom companies are making multi-billion dollar bets to try to control how people consume news and entertainment. Li has covered the intersection of the media and technology businesses since 1996, and has previously worked for Reuters as global media correspondent, TMT editor, and editor of Reuters.com. He left Reuters in 2014 to join Recode as one of the founding editors.
Two veteran staffers have been let go from Vanity Fair, under new editor in chief Radhika Jones:
- SunHee Grinnell is out after almost 30 years at the magazine. She most recently worked as beauty director for the title, and joined the staff in 1991.
- Writer Bob Colacello, a special correspondent since 1993, is also off the masthead. He was editor of Interview magazine from 1971 until 1983.
Veteran editor Ron Carter has retired from The Columbus Dispatch. He has been the business editor of the paper since 1994, and started his career in 1974 at Cox Newspapers in Springfield and Dayton, Ohio. Replacing Carter as business editor is Jim Weiker, who was promoted from reporter. Weiker has been covering real estate, development and home improvement for the past nine years. He has worked in newspapers for 34 years and came to The Dispatch in 2000 as a business reporter covering development.
Indya Brown has been promoted to fashion partnerships editor at The Cut. She was previously the fashion market assistant at New York magazine for two years, and assisted fashion director Rebecca Ramsey. Prior to that, she interned at The Cut and New York.
WFLA-TV, the NBC station in Tampa, Florida, has welcomed Ryan Hughes is a reporter. He comes from ABC's WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C., where he spent the last two years as a reporter. Hughes has also previously reported for WFLA-TV in Tampa, and WFTV in Orlando.
Zachery Lashway has been named weekend morning anchor at Graham-owned WJXT-TV in Jacksonville, Florida, delivering the news alongside Ashley Spicer. He comes from NBC's KARE-TV in Minneapolis, where he spent the last two years as an anchor/reporter. Prior to that, he reporter for WPHL-TV in Philadelphia.
