Media Moves at San Francisco Chronicle & Allure, New Tech Reporter at ProPublica
Allure has hired Rosemary Donahue full-time as digital wellness editor writing about sex, relationships, body image and identity. She was previously the magazine's weekend and contributing editor on a freelancer basis for more than a year. Before that, she worked for Brit + Co as news editor, and Time Inc. and a contributor.
Sophia Kunthara has joined the San Francisco Chronicle as business reporter. She has spent the bast year as a Hearst Journalism Fellow covering Trumbull and Monroe for the Connecticut Post and Hearst Connecticut Media Group. Prior to that, she interned at Reuters and the Arizona Republic.
Longtime China and Iraq correspondent of The New York Times, Edward Wong, will be relocating from Beijing to the paper's Washington, D.C., bureau to cover foreign policy. He has been the Beijing bureau chief and China correspondent since 2008, a correspondent between 2003 and 2007, and has also reported for the business, metro and sports desks of the paper.
ProPublica has brought on Renee Dudley as a senior reporter covering the central roles that technology, algorithms and social media play in our lives. Her first day was Aug 13, and she is based in Boston. Dudley comes from Reuters where she spent three years as a reporter covering higher education and college admission tests. She has also reported for Bloomberg, the Charleston Post and Courier,and the Hilton Head Island Packet. h/t Talking Biz News
The CNN Washington, D.C., bureau has added an editor and a reporter to its CNNPolitics team:
- Kate Grise has joined as AM breaking news editor. She spent the last three years at CNN headquarters in Atlanta as a researcher for CNN's editorial review team The Row.
- Kate Sullivan, who joined the network in 2017 as a news associate, is now a breaking news reporter on the politics team.
Daniel Winn has joined KWWL-TV, the NBC-affiliated television in Waterloo, Iowa, as morning anchor. He was previously a freelance reporter for KSDK-TV in St. Louis, Missouri, and a morning anchor for KJRH-TV in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Winn has also worked for KMIZ-TV in Columbia, Missouri.
WQMP-FM radio in Orlando, Florida, has named Melissa "Mel" Sorrentino music director and midday on-air personality. She comes from WSFS-FM in Miami, where she worked as music coordinator since 2015, and previously served as promotions director for CBS Radio West Palm Beach.
NBC-owned KNBC-TV in Los Angeles has hired Aliya Jasmine as a full time reporter. In the past four years, she has been freelancing for various stations in California, including NBC, Fox Sports, E! News, and Bravo, and before that worked for MTV in Toronto, Canada.
KBAK-TV anchor Erin Briscoe has left the Sinclair station and TV news altogether, after ten years. She joined the station in 2008 and has delivered the news in the morning broadcast as anchor since then. KBAK-TV is the CBS-affiliated stations for Bakersfield, California.
