Staff Updates & New Addition to NPR, Farewell at MarketWatch
NPR has announced the following staff updates:
- Beijing-based correspondent Anthony Kuhn will be moving to Seoul, South Korea in the coming months. Kuhn started at NPR in 2004 as a London correspondent, and has been on the move ever since. He has held positions as a general Southeast Asia correspondent and Beijing correspondent during his time there.
- This move comes shortly after the announcement that Elise Hu left her correspondent position in Seoul to head to Los Angeles, CA. Prior to her international correspondent position, she was a technology and culture reporter for NPR, as well as a digital editorial coordinator.
SB Nation brought on Natalie Weiner as a staff writer to cover the NFL and general sports news. She comes from Bleacher Report where she was a staff writer, and Billboard where she worked simultaneously as a news writer and associate editor.
Jackson Richman joined JSN.org (Jewish News Syndicate), covering the latest Jewish and Israel-related news, plus the latest in anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism on college campuses from Washington D.C. The Jewish News Syndicate is an online wire service reporting Israel news and Jewish news from the U.S. and around the world.
The San Diego Union-Tribune has hired Brittany Meiling to cover the new startup beat and entrepreneurship for the newspaper as a senior reporter. She was most recently with Endpoints News as a senior reporter, covering global business news. Before that, she was a reporter with the San Diego Business Journal covering startups and biotech.
Matthew De Silva moved to Quartz magazine to cover cryptocurrency as a reporter. He was previously a staff writer for ETHFNews where he wrote about blockchain development and the cryptocurrency markets.
Local Orlando, FL All Things Considered host, Crystal Chavez has exited WMFE-FM to join the NPR broadcast of All Things Considered in Washington D.C. as a producer. Chavez has worked in public radio since 2007, where she started as a producer at KUT-FM's Morning Edition.
MarketWatch market and investing reporter Anora Gaudiano has left the outlet to become a financial advisor at Sontag Advisory. She was with MarketWatch since 2013. Prior to that, she was with the Financial Times as a U.S. equities reporter and an online news editor.
Longtime morning radio personality Afrenta is no longer on the air at Entercom's Kansas City, MO station KRBZ-FM. Afrenta's Big Fat Morning Buzz ran for over sixteen years for two separate runs. The station re-branded the morning show with Afrenta's co-hosts, Danny Boi Terreros and Mark Van Sickle taking center stage.
Operations manager Perry Stone of Saga Communications Charlottesville, VA WWWV-FM has left the station. He joined Mid-West Family Broadcasting in Riverton, IL as the operations manager for both WMAY-AM and WQLZ-FM, as well as hosting afternoons at WQLZ-FM.
