Media Moves at TIME & American Banker, New Work Culture Reporter at WSJ

TIME magazine has made a couple of staff moves, and has added a TV critic and a reporter to its roster:

  • Judy Berman has joined the magazine as television critic. She has been a freelancer for most of her career and her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, and The Baffler. She was also the editor in chief of Flavorpill Media. 
  • Gina Martinez is the new politics reporter for TIME. She comes from TimesLedger newspapers, where she spent the last two years as a reporter covering Northeast Queens. She is a 2016 graduate from CUNY York College. 

Bloomberg News reporter David Wainer has moved from the Tel Aviv bureau to New York to cover the U.N. and international politics. He has been with the news wire since 2008, when he joined the staff as emerging markets reporter. He has been at the Tel Aviv bureau since the beginning of his Bloomberg career. 

Reporter Te-Ping Chen has taken over the work and work culture beat at The Wall Street Journal, and has moved to New York from the paper's Beijing bureau. She has been with WSJ since 2012, and first spent two years in Hong Kong. Most recently, she covered politics and society as a correspondent out of Beijing. 

Jacqueline Alemany has joined The Washington Post's PowerPost, covering the people and news surrounding Washington, the White House, federal government, and politics. She comes from CBS News, where she has worked for the past year as a White House reporter. She has also worked as a digital producer for “60 Minutes” and a broadcast associate for “Face the Nation” on CBS. PowerPost is WaPo's new early morning newsletter dedicated to breaking news about the people and power centers of Washington.

American Banker has hired Sharon Adarlo as technology reporter covering the digital revolution sweeping the banking industry. She was previously a contributor for Financial Planning for three years, and before that worked for The Star-Ledger reporting on crime and general assignment news. 

Will Kunkel has been hired by FOX-owned WJZY-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina as sports director. He comes from KWCH-TV in Wichita, Kansas, where he spent the last three years as the lead sports anchor. Before that, he worked for WNWO-TV in Toledo, Ohio as sports director/anchor, and KVRR-TV in Fargo, North Carolina as sports anchor. 

NBC's WRAL-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina has welcomed Rosalia Fodera as a reporter. She was previously a reporter for WPDE-TV in Myrtle Beach, Florida. Fodera was also the media head of the Christian Assembly from 2011 to 2016.

Multimedia journalist Andrea McCarren has announced that she is leaving her post at CBS-owned WUSA-TV in Washington, D.C., and the broadcast business all together, for PenFed Credit Union and her new position as the chief content officer for PenFed Digital. She is departing the station in January 2019. McCarren has been with WUSA-TV since 2010, and before that spent almost a decade as a reporter/anchor at WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C.
